  1. It's becoming clear that Burnes doesnt look like he has it today. (please don't come back to bite me)
  2. 1st of many times I briefly think 'where are we at in the order, will this walk bring the pitcher up?'
  3. He had like a .900+ OPS against RHP last year so he's as good a bet as any in that situation until he proves otherwise .721 OPS for his career which roughly half of his career PAs came last year. Like I said, ok fine start him, but not sure why he has to hit leadoff.
  4. Unprecendented Cubs coverage apparently doesn't include at alternate angle of a fly ball down the line at your home ballpark. Good stuff Marquee
  5. Ortega starting? ok fine whatever. But hitting leadoff?
  6. https://theathletic.com/3235669/2022/04/07/inside-the-recruiting-pitch-to-seiya-suzuki-virtual-reality-yu-darvishs-influence-and-a-vision-for-the-next-great-cubs-team/ Article about the Cubs recruitment of Suzuki
  7. It's winnable for sure but I'm not sure what to expect from this team. I don't mean that in a negative way, I'm just saying that I could see this team flounder from the start or be surprisingly decent. I think if they can stay within 3 games of a playoff spot by the deadline we'll make some moves and better our chances of making it. As cheap and as stupid as PTR is, I do believe he will open the checkbook at least a bit if there's something to play for.
  8. Yeah it should. Tomorrow's is probably gonna get banged, but I don't think it's going to do more than sprinkle today It'll be one of those miserable "rains enough to make everyone cold and wet, but not enough to postpone" games. I'll be shocked if Wrigley is even at half capacity by the 7th. Brewers fans are already making jokes on Twitter about the game being called because the Cubs cancel games against the Brewers even when its not raining.
  9. Heyward is definitely starting 130+ games this year if he stays healthy. He's Rossy's guy...the kind of benefit you get when you upgrade someone's hotel rooms to suites for every game of their final season.
  10. The Bulls have now allowed more points than they've scored this season. What a collapse
  11. I hate to admit it but I lost any emotional attachment to this team a few games ago. The last time the Bulls made the playoffs I think I watched like 10 minutes total. Feeling the same way this year
  12. I'm calling [expletive] here. Yesterday the Ricketts were called out by a national media guy for fielding an inferior team on the cheap. This is a bogus story fed to friendly media by an ownership group who are about to field a 70 win team on $140M payroll with the 3rd highest ticket prices in baseball. If Boars didn't give Correa this information he would be subject to disbarment and civil litigation. Who was the national guy calling out Ricketts? I live for good Ricketts hating
  13. i bumped the 5 year old victor thread to discuss this important news lol
  14. Victor Caratini will be at Wrigley this weekend to open the season. He'll be in a Brewers uniform though
  15. Peacock gets in on the exclusive streaming games trend and will broadcast a weekly "Sunday Morning" game starting at 10:30 am CT. The Cubs are on the schedule once - on the road against the Phillies
  16. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/33645791/2022-mlb-predictions-expanded-playoffs-world-series-mvps-cy-youngs 1 of the 38 reporters chose the Cubs to win a wild card spot! Suzuki was also the consensus choice for NL ROY
  17. Everton is definitely going down now, just looking at their remaining schedule. Why did I hitch my wagon to this horsefeathers show 15 years ago?
  18. I think Boras and the Cubs are good with each other. Certainly he tries to get the best for his clients and he sometimes will offer a lot of public rhetoric, but that is posturing and I don’t think he’d keep a guy from signing with the Cubs. But when Correa changed agents it was reported that Boras would have to split the commission with the previous agent. When he signed essentially a one year deal speculation was that Boras was happy about that because he’d only have to split this year and then get all of the future deal. Whether that was a factor, I don’t know. I guess I don't understand why Correa would be down for that. I don't know what the Cubs offer was so maybe it wasn't the type of numbers we were talking about, but it seems like there's more chance for his value to go down after this year than go up. Some players just like betting on themselves though
  19. No love lost between Scott Boras and the Cubs that's for sure. I'm also wondering which side is leaking that. Is this a "see we tried" leak from the Cubs? I don't see why Correa would take essentially a 1 year deal from the Twins over a "huge offer" from the Cubs because his newly signed agent is butt hurt over previous clients
  20. lol, in The Ringer's preseason power poll. They never resist the chance to rip on the Ricketts cheapness
  21. Isn't it supposed to snow here tomorrow and Friday? We might end up being the last 1st game of the season.
  22. Found the optimist
  23. I’ve seriously never seen a team that gets blown out almost literally every single time they play an elite team, much less a team that will end up as a top 6 seed. Something bizarre is happening. I’m sure the heavily concentration of their hardest games coming at the end of the season when they struggled with health plays into it but how is it possible that we never seem to even be able to catch a team on an off night? I mean to compare we are 1-20 assuming we don’t come back tonight against the top 7 teams in the league by win percentage and 44-13 against everyone else. I’ve never seen a disparity that bad
  24. Thank you again to T-Mobile for acquiring Sprint. Still have to deal with a shitty network but at least when it works I get MLB.tv
