  1. Can we just like not keep grounding into double plays with a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs?
  2. 5 hits tonight. Meanwhile the Giants scored in 6 of 8 innings
  3. Ball is flying out of the park tonight. For one team
  4. Yes the Giants bad offense trouncing the Cubs pitching is rough but the 5 total runs of offense in games started by pitchers with ERAs of 4.64 and 5.01 is more bothersome to me.
  5. We weren't going to catch the Brewers and the Reds keep losing, whatever.
  6. I'm lucky, my best friend has been an obsessive Oasis fan since we were in high school. When the concert was announced he said he'd figure out how to get us tickets when they went on sale and he managed to come through with floor seats. Not gonna lie I was tempted to thank him and sell my ticket when I saw the prices tickets were going for in the after market lol
  7. Good Cubs allowing us to get a proper nights sleep. Im going to Oasis tomorrow so I need my beauty rest.
  8. So glad the slow bad 40 year old is hitting clean up
  9. I believe the last game they’ve won after trailing by multiple runs was 7/2 against Cleveland
  10. 2-9 in the opening game of our last 11 series. Only wins are the first game against the Orioles (1-0) and first game against the Angels (3-2). In 3 of the 9 losses, they've managed to recover to win the series. In August they've scored 11 total runs in the opening game of the 8 series they've played (plus if they get any more runs tonight)
  11. To add to this, I'm doing the selective sample size thing again because the ABs really have been better lately, but if they don't score 3 more runs tonight they will have scored 4 runs or less in 14 of their last 16 games. Thankfully 7-7 in the 14 they've scored 4 or less.
  12. You do realize the Cubs are starting a pitcher with better numbers across the board in a park that eliminates one of Shota's weak spots which is the HR ball. It's not going to be easy but I'd give the Cubs the slight edge there. Outside of that yeah, its difficult to win a 3 game series when you lose the first game.
  13. I know they are 8-2 in their last 10, clearly playing better, guys are not as lost at the plate, but they still don't feel there offensively. They should come out of it at some point, and obviously Saturday was a great start but frustrating to still see them at 0-4 runs most games. You're welcome when they score 6 more runs and win this game.
  14. Oh wow I was following via my score app and saw that the inning was over. Didn't realize they overturned it and got a 2 out rbi hit
  15. Cubs open with a homestand, close at Fenway
  16. Yeah it’s more of an emotional thing than a logical thing. Of course the Cubs are better off playing at home, I’m just not going to be too upset if we aren’t able to clinch home field in the WC round
  17. Maybe a controversial take but I don't think I care if the Cubs get home field or not. Maybe it's just scar tissue from 2018 and 2020 and the fact that Wrigley is just not fun to hit at lately, but if it's SD or LA, I'm not too upset about it. Granted SD is also an extreme pitchers park, and Dodger Stadium can play like one at night, and of course both teams play with the same conditions so its not like going out west would be a benefit for the Cubs offense, but maybe it would take the pressure off a bit since our fans have been known to create a panicked negative vibe in the stadium (a feeling I experienced in the 2008 NLDS).
  18. Reds lose again last night. Now 9 behind the Cubs in the loss column. If the Cubs go 16-15 the rest of the way, the Reds would have to go 24-6 to catch them and 25-5 to pass them. And of course even if that happened, the Mets would still have to go 22-9 to catch the Cubs AND Padres 18-12 for the Cubs to be in danger of missing the playoffs (H2H tiebreaker with all Reds and Mets still undecided, as is the tiebreaker with the Padres who the Cubs went 3-3 against)
  19. You are killing me Palencia. Not as sharp as he was earlier this year.
  20. Reds 3 outs from victory up 6-1 so Cubs lead will likely either remain at 8 or down to 7 depending on how this 9th goes
