  1. Holy horsefeathers that's savage
  2. per twitter, this is the first time something like that could happen: (edited to show my work) Crazy. I thought it happened in the early 2000's but I guess I'm remembering incorrectly. (Edit: I'm thinking of something completely different - the MLB having 2 LCS games going at the same time which happened with Cubs/Marlins and Red Sox/Yankees at least once in 2003). The NBA does this fairly often between the 1st and 2nd rounds
  3. There has to be some personal reason why he's not playing. I know he missed most of last season with an injury and was suspended for PEDs the season before, but he's 28 years old and plenty of teams like the Packers who could desperately use a WR like Fuller.
  4. Postponed. Playing tomorrow at 3, ALCS to start Wednesday in Houston
  5. I would set the bar VERY high for Fields to show enough that you don't just make the pick yourself. To the point that it's almost impossible to see a scenario where Fields has shown enough and the Bears are still picking high enough to get showered with draft picks. Like I know the Minnesota game was an example of a tank win where Fields was great but we still lost, but unless Eberfluss is able to dial up another half dozen of those it feels like a tough needle to thread. I just think the FO is going to do everything possible to avoid having to spend a high 1st on a QB. This is a team that wants to build through the draft and needs everything and a lot of it. I know this goes against everything we've seen with giving Fields no help, putting kid gloves on him, etc, but I do think they are trying to slowly develop him. I'm not sure if they're doing it right. In fact I sort of doubt it. I could be completely wrong though. I just keep going back to it not making any sense to completely ruin Fields just because you don't believe in him. Everyone sees the talent, even the detractors. This is a free season for them in terms of expectations. No one would blame Poles if they let Fields air it out and he flopped. In fact they would probably prefer that if they didn't believe in Fields, so they could quickly move on.
  6. I was reading today about how there should be a lot of QB needy teams out there this year. If the Bears secure a top 5 pick and Fields shows enough to at least bring him back next year, would you consider trading down? I would say trading down to trade down in a bad idea, but when teams get desperate for QBs they tend to give up a ton. Examples: -The 49ers traded 3 first round picks and a 3rd to move up from 12th to 3rd and draft Trey Lance -The Jets traded 1 first round pick and 3 second round picks to move up from 6th to 3rd and draft Sam Darnold (lol) -The Eagles traded 2 first round picks, 1 second and 1 third to move up from 8th to 2nd and draft Carson Wentz (double lol)
  7. Sorry already taken
  8. Might have been a decent pickup for the Bears
  9. I'd be ok with Quinn and Roquan. I'd keep Montgomery through the season because RBs simply arent that valuable unless they are an elite Christian McCaffrey-like back, and you're only getting him for 1/2 season. I'm thinking he would only fetch a 6th or 7th (but I could be way off). I *probably* don't want to re-sign him, but I'd like to keep that option available. The Bears clearly don't trust Herbert's blocking abilities (is that something RBs can improve at this point of their careers?) and so I'm not sure they want to make him a lead back. Keeping Monty at least gives the Bears the option of retaining him, or they can go out and draft/sign a replacement level back.
  10. Every year bad teams accidentally beat good teams. The Jets are famous for killing their draft positioning by winning games they shouldn't. The 3-14 Jags beat the Bills last year. As long as Eberflus keeps the players bought in and playing hard, I bet they'll surprise at least 1 team that should beat us this year. And I think he will have them playing hard considering how much of the roster is fringe NFL players and guys on 1 year contracts. 5-12 sounds about right to me.
  11. Interesting that Belichick tied GSH for 2nd most wins in history last week and has a chance to break it against the Bears. Belichick is 6-1 lifetime against the Bears, the only loss coming back in his first year in New England (2000). At least according to my friend who is a Pats fan, Belichick's teams have historically had issues against teams with mobile QBs, and that certainly tracks since the last time we played the Patriots Trubisky had multiple ridiculous TD runs (and then seemingly never ran again - thanks Nagy). But he's also a mastermind at disguising defenses and scheming for ways to take away the team's best impact player, though I have no idea who that would be for the Bears. The Bears have played the last 4 games within 1 score but the Patriots have blown out their last 2 opponents and Zappe has had 3 100 QB rating games in his first 3 starts (compared to Fields have 1 in his entire career thus far). I have a feeling that this one won't be pretty and will go with Patriots winning 24-13
  12. I kind of had the same thought today too. Im not giving him a pass but I accept that this is how Poles chose to approach things and I'm giving him this season to get through all the tanking before I consider him a failure. But like has been pointed out many times before there is no reason for a rebuild to take more than 1-2 years in the NFL. I expect to start seeing some real success next year. I look at the giants and am reminded why I wanted Daboll, and instead we have Eberflop This is an honest question though, do you believe the Giants are any closer to winning a Super Bowl than the Bears? I’m not trying to defend Poles because there is a path where the Bears could be good this year and still be in decent shape for the future in terms of picks and cap. The Giants may make the playoffs but I’m not seeing where they are set up for long term success. Edit: I guess if you believe Daboll is an elite coach and Eberflus is a turd then you would say the giants are better set up. I don’t think either of those things is confirmed yet, and i don’t even like Eberflus that much lol

  14. Realistic-ish scenario: Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama all win out with Georgia beating Tennessee and Alabama beating Georgia in the SEC title game. I'd think Alabama would get in since they'd be the SEC champs and then the committee probably goes Georgia over Tennessee due to H2H if they take two SEC teams but boy that seems harsh on Tennessee. I suppose it would depend on how the games play out. Like if Georgia beats Tennessee convincingly than you take Georgia for sure. But if Georgia beats Tennessee like Tennessee beat Alabama today, then it's tougher. Plus, you'll need to factor in a likely 11-1 Illinois team that would have victories over Michigan and Ohio State. Loss to Indiana = automatic elimination
  15. A 5 seeded Wild Card team is going to have home field advantage in the NLCS
  16. Will be interesting to see how they rank everyone tomorrow. Georgia and Ohio State will definitely be some combo of 1-2. Do you bring Tennessee ahead of Michigan and Clemson after beating Bama? Do you flip UM back to 4 after beating Penn State by 24, combined with a 6 point Clemson win? Of course because it’s SEC/Bama there’s always a chance they don’t drop all the way to 6 due to a 3 point road loss to a top 5 team. None of it ultimately matters but fun to speculate. Still another 2 weeks until the first CFP rankings come out
  17. This game is absolutely ridiculous, surprised no one is talking about it.
  18. I would love to be wrong but if Michigan's biggest test in the next 6 weeks is Illinois then there will be two B1G teams in the playoff. I think that’s only true if ND wins out and Michigan is the team that wins that game and the Big Ten. Big Ten appears to be down this year, Michigan played a really bad non-conference schedule as we all know so they have a hard argument as a 1 loss team that didn’t play in their conference title game. A 10-2 Notre Dame gives OSU a top 15 win and an argument, along with their dominance this year to make it.
  19. I thought when Michigan blew that 13-0 lead in about 2 minutes of game time that would flip the momentum. But they were just too good on both sides of the ball to let Penn State do anything. Good W. Boy that Illini game gets more daunting every week
  20. No one remind my wife that I'm available to do house projects. The bad part is this isn't like the latter Cutler years where I could just watch the first half and figure out if it was good Jay or bad Jay and then tune out and go rake if it was a bad Jay day. With Fields I'm invested in the process, good or bad, and will be back at it every Sunday unless he's hurt. If anything you can get stuff done in the first half and start watching in the 2nd half per the Fields splits I posted yesterday
  21. actually here’s all the PFF grades
  22. His average time to throw will be 5.5 seconds instead of 3.5 seconds.
  23. Hope Cleveland can close this out in the bottom of the 10th to make this a series.
  24. i think he was still pretty good last year, it was just a terrible overpay Yeah a pretty good but flawed player. Certainly not someone you want to commit to as the 4th highest paid defenseman in the league for the next 9 years with a full NTC.
