    2 good kickoffs returns today. I don’t doubt he can contribute as a kick returner but not sure it’s worth a roster spot if he can’t get on the field as a receiver when 3-4 other WRs are hurt.

    Yeah ultimately winning makes it fun. If they aren't winning they will be a terribly boring team, though I can appreciate pitching to contact and good defense. If we can hang around and be competitive in the first half there's always a chance we can make a move or two for some big bats near the deadline. I'm certainly not super enthusiastic about the offseason but there will be some things to look forward to.

    Well they would be losing about 68m in pre-arb payroll going into 2024 (comparing 2023 pre-arb to 2024 pre-arb). Unfortunately that 68m savings is made up of Hendricks, Stroman, Bellinger, Happ, Gomes and Boxburger all hitting FA, so already an uphill climb to maintain that after this year.

    I'm just sourcing content from Sports Mockery now but do any of these trades seem realistic, and if so which one do you like the most? Trade 1: Bears trade #2 overall to Colts for #6 overall, 3rd in 2023, 1st in 2024 and Michael Pittman Jr. The Colts will definitely be desperate for a QB but adding Pittman seems greedy in this proposal to only move down 4 spots. Especially if there isn't a consensus 2nd or 3rd best QB meaning the chances of one dropping to 6 is higher. Maybe instead of Pittman, you replace him with a 3rd in 2024? Trade 2: Bears trade #2 overall to Falcons for #7 overall, 2nd in 2023, 4th in 2023, 1st in 2024 and 3rd in 2024 Again maybe seems like one piece too much. Taking away that 2024 3rd might be more realistic. Trade 3: Bears trade #2 overall to Panthers for #8 overall, 2nd in 2023, 4th in 2023, 1st in 2024 and DJ Moore Basically taking pieces of the last 2 trades and putting them together, though I could see DJ Moore being more likely to go in a trade like this than Pittman. Also because the Colts and Falcons are both clearly QB needy and would pick ahead of the Panthers, they may be more desperate to move up than the Colts or Falcons might.

    How the hell can the Packers afford that? The salary cap is basically like a small speed bump for teams.

    Changing topics a bit, its crazy how having a young emerging franchise QB changes what should really be garbage time of the season. Last year, the Seahawks game was around the same point of the season as we are at now and I remember being completely disengaged and didn't really bother watching much of it at all. The season was virtually over in my mind. This year the team is even worse record-wise, but I'm stoked that I still get 3 more chances to watch Justin Fields play this year. I will prioritize watching my 3-11 team play in miserable conditions against a Super Bowl contender on Christmas Eve because I might will probably see more sweet plays by Fields. Excited that there are 2 more games after this one. Bears have a big offseason and a ways to go to be a good team, but I'm incredibly thankful that my lifelong dream of seeing a franchise-caliber QB in Chicago looks to be fulfilled finally.

    They were, though I would guess the Cubs looked a lot more appealing in the 2017 offseason than they do now. On the plus side the universal DH is here and that seemed to be a big sticking point for going to the Cubs.

    Jed's going to have to put his big boy pants on for that to happen. I'm just intrigued at what Jed might have told Swanson about future plans to make him feel comfortable about committing. It could just be a nothing 'intro press conference' quote or it could be less about targeting specific names and more about general organizational strategy, but I'm curious

    Wonder if this will put pressure on other owners to spend. I'm guessing no as most owners will tell you that a) Cohen has triple the net worth of any other owner except the Jays owner and b) NYC market provides revenue opportunities that most markets don't have access too. Not to say that those excuses have merit by any means but its enough to get the heat off of someone like Tom Ricketts.

    Guessing the $13m in year 1 is to offset the signing bonus and maybe accounting for some of Heyward's contract on the books?

    If its not a back issue maybe a degenerative knee condition that hasn't been an issue to this point but likely would be as Correa hits his 30s? Either that or the Giants just got cold feet on the contract, but seems unlikely given that they were far enough down the road that they had a press conference scheduled and they were showcasing him in their ticket ads.

    I've made this rant multiple times. It sucks that a majority of their home games are in December/January with the team clearly tanking. Granted this is more exciting than your standard 3-11 team so there's reason to come out and watch Fields but still.
