AKME's post-mortem comments today we're not what I wanted to hear but I'm not surprised. Talked about rebuilding not being something they are considering, how 14-9 after the ASB shows that they are on the right path and some comments about just needing tweaks.
Unless a miracle happens I think the best thing to do is emotionaly distance yourself from this org for a while if you haven't already.
Still too early to know for sure whether this team is good but there are some promising signs. We’ll see how the rest of this stretch goes but I’m excited
I just don't know how they can do it without another multi-year tank. I don't believe that either LaVine or DeRozan are guys you want to build a contender around and even if they were, they're over the cap even without Vuc and Lonzo on the books (I believe) so its not like we can improve the team in FA or really via trade as none of our signed assets are really that valuable outside of trading away DeRozan or Zach which creates another rebuild. They have literally backed themselves into a corner with the roster with no way out. They only own their 1st round pick 1 time over the next 3 seasons. They are bumping up against the luxury tax even before considering possible Vuc and Coby re-signings.
They're fucked, and I think the quicker they realize that and blow things up, the better. Please do not do another Stan Bowman and try to keep a team that is clearly not good enough in NBA hell for 3-4 years before blowing it up.
Chicago sports are a horsefeathering mess
Man I just don't trust Carter. Obviously recognize that he's maybe the most talented person in the draft, but I cant shake the feeling that he's going to flame out. It's a risky pick.
I think the NBA made a big step by flattening the odds for the worst teams. Yes there are still teams that tank seasons and there are one-off situations like the Mavs for 1 game but there wasn't this big race to the bottom over the last month of the season with fans being angry when their favorite team wins a game. The 5 worst teams are separated in odds by 3.5% so no one is fretting when your team wins one.
In the NHL, the difference between the worst team and the 2nd worst team is a full 12%, while in the NBA, 12% separates the worst team from the 11th worst team.
That was bad. I guess Beverly brings intangibles or some horsefeathers but he played like ass today. Coby was the only person doing anything in the 4th and they inexplicably benched him with 3:43 left after draining a 3 to take a 3 point lead. Heat outscored the Bulls 15-2 the rest of the way.
They won’t do the random lottery because they still remember the Magic getting the number 1 pick in back to back years despite going 41-41 the second season and drafting Shaq and Penny
According to Tankathon, Ottawa doesn't even have a shot at 1 overall and I really have no desire for the next teams on that list to get Bedard (Vancouver, St Louis, Detroit, Washington, Philadelphia).
I just think Bartman should have never been the story. He ended up being the story but why continue to bring up the name of a random fan who was one of several fans trying to grab a foul ball and has requested to be left alone? There are so many better ways to frame a 2003 NLCS Celebration. Hell if they called it "Alex Gonzalez error appreciation day" I'd be ok with it (though I get that doesn't roll off the tongue nearly as well), or maybe like celebrate one of your players from that team instead of a random fan.
