  1. So Jets let the Packers pick 2 spots higher this year, give them a mid 2nd rounder this year and a potential 1st rounder next year? Seems like way too much for a dude who is turning 40 next season and just had the worst statistical season od his career.
  2. Just for fun....Cubs position player fWAR rankings on April 24 Nico Hoerner - 1.2 (9th) Cody Bellinger - 1.0 (20th) Patrick Wisdom - 1.0 (20th) Dansby Swanson - 0.8 (29th) Ian Happ - 0.7 (43rd) Trey Mancini is the only other Cub that qualifies but I didn't go far enough to see his ranking. His fWAR is -0.5. Pithcing: Drew Smyly - 0.6 (30th) Jameson Taillon - 0.5 (t-38th) Justin Steele - 0.5 (t-38th) Marcus Stroman - 0.5 (t-38th) Farther down the list - Hughes (0.2), Alzolay (0.2), Rucker (0.2), Keegan (0.1), Leiter (0.1), Fulmer (0.0), Wesneski (-0.1) and Boxberger last at (-0.2).
  3. I’ll preface this by saying that going 16-7 against any collection of MLB teams is legit impressive given the expectations for the Pirates this year, but the schedule has been pretty light CIN, BOS, CWS, HOU, STL, COL, CIN Houston and St Louis are the 2 legit teams they played and are 3-4 against them, 13-3 against everyone else.
  4. Yeah they definitely have some easier games throughout the season but there’s never a sustained stretch until August. If the Cubs can hang around .500 until that point they have the opportunity to finish very strong and make the playoffs, especially with deadline reinforcements
  5. Just looking at the schedule and while it gets easier in June, it’s still filled with tough games through July. The run of easy games doesn’t come until late August which is either too late or perfect timing depending on whether the Cubs are sunk by then Starting Aug 18 KC, DET, PIT, CIN, SF, ARI, COL, ARI, PIT, COL but before that run there’s pretty much no stretch of more than 2 series between playing good teams.
  6. Nevermind now they’ve evened us in RD for the series. Still have outscored them by 6 in the season series
  7. 3-4 against the Dodgers isn't hypothetically bad, but also kind of sucks to lose 3 of 4 to them despite outscoring them for the series.
  8. nice I was just hoping that we could have Torrens and Gomes in the lineup together again. Plus Hosmer. Fire lineup Ross
  9. Well I guess you aren't going to hold the Dodgers to 0-2 runs every game. Hope we come back but if we don't I have confidence that Stro can earn us a split tomorrow and win the season series vs LA
  10. Passable performance for Wesneski. Only 1 K which is strange and some hard hit balls but he hung in there and prevented any big innings. Note: I’ve only listened to the game so my opinion may be way off
  11. Cubs runs scored the day after scoring 8+ runs this year: 2 2 2 1 4 2 This comment is not making any statements about the offense today as they’ve only batted 3 times and scored a run. Just a strange phenomenon that feels like it has happened to the Cubs a lot over the years.
  12. On July 10, 2022 Julio Urias had a bad start against the Chicago Cubs, pitching just 2 innings and giving up 5 ER. Between July 11, 2022 and April 15, 2023, Urias had 17 starts and gave up 17 ER combined. His teams went 15-2 in those 17 starts Between April 16, 2023 and April 21, 2023, Urias started twice against the Cubs, giving up 8 runs in 9 IP. The Cubs won both games. The Cubs own Julio Urias
  13. @Brock Beauchamp Are you by chance interested in purchasing any Bears, Bulls and/or Blackhawks forums?
  14. Cubs have surpassed the Rangers and now have the 2nd best RD in baseball at +48. Still a long way from the Rays at +83 but hell yeah
  15. Clearly wasnt paying enough attention lol. I was kind of looking down at my phone and somehow missed that.
  16. So that remains the only baserunner by the Dodgers
  17. He took one into the 9th against the White Sox too
  18. Now that the perfect game is over, lets appreciate what Smyly has done after a really rough first start. Last 3 starts, all against playoff teams from last year and this is what he's done: 18.1 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 20 K
  19. I seem to remember Ted Lilly took a perfecto late into the game but i could be wrong Edit: maybe it was just a no hitter
  20. I think Gomes probably had a better shot to get him tbh. Would have been a really tough for Smyly
  21. like WTF is Gomes doing? it looked like he was trying to tackle him lmao
  22. Well that's one way to lose a perfect game. horsefeathering Gomes
