I guess we have to hope the other WC teams struggle. Gotta get 1 this weekend against Arizona to keep them to 2 games behind. But man if Steele can't outbattle another really good pitcher facing the offense that's scored 2 runs the last 2 games, Sunday is going to be nerve wracking. Steele is coming off 2 of the highest pitch count outings of his career.... Or we can come back in the 9th and win, I suppose thats still on the table

He does have a choice. He can try to get a 7th inning out of Taillon, he could try to get a 2nd inning out of Merryweather.

I think the biggest thing is he's put much more faith in Cuas that most of us think he should. He's treating him like a trusted high leverage reliever

I'm just a dude behind a computer but if Alzolay is out, I'm either trying to get Taillon to make it through 7, or Merryweather is pitching 2 after a relatively short 1st inning

Cuas has had some success but this makes no sense. This is a big game and a game where we might need to use up all our high leverage guys. Pulling Merryweather after a 14 pitch inning seems insane

Not really that many I don't think. Only 2 batted balls over 100 mph exit velo today, though both were by the Cubs and both were outs. For comparison, there were 20 batted balls over 100 mph yesterday, 8 by the Cubs (they went 3-8 on those batted balls)

Gallen at 69 pitches through 6. If we don't start hitting him he might be able to go all 9 and we cant break into that bullpen

4 lefties in the DBacks lineup today (2 of them are switch hitters). 1 of them hits worse against righties (Marte - but still .825 OPS vs RHP), the other 3 hit much better. Taillon of course has an .883 OPS allowed to lefties and .698 against righties
