  1. Who is going to play OF other then Pierre? 4/38? You are dreaming JH
  2. Without reading 25+ pages on this....this signing means that which players are expendable/bound for Iowa in April: Bullpen as I see it: Dempster ® Howry ® Eyre (L) Williamson ® Ohman (L) Wuertz (L)/Rusch (L) (depending on if a starter is aquired/status of Kerry) Novoa ® These players are expendable or in AAA: Williams Wellemeyer Mitre
  3. None of wich you get from a DH, so what's your point? Spending money on a power hitter is less money they can spend on pitching, defense and speed Edit: Also getting rid of Rowand kinda gets rid of that whole Gold Glove caliber CF doesnt it?
  4. I think the Sox mantra was pitching, defense and speed?
  5. I'm still irked at the teams inability to be even slight factors in the player that can help the team the most IMO. (That would be Giles and his .424 OBP last year)
  6. I was going to say at least your not a Cub fan, but you are. Anyways, from a Bears perspective, great half. The biggest suprise has been Kyle Orton. You think that Grossman/Orton talk this week has been beneficial to him? Also only allowing 1 decent drive by Carolina in a half has me exciting. I expect the Panthers to come out energized this half though. I think 10 points by the Bears in the second half locks this one up though
  7. I understand why...baseball is a business, and a businesses will find the supply/demand equilibrium that makes it the most profit.
  8. Every bit of news this offseason has been great so far. This one temps me less to spend money on the Cubs next year if the offseason continues the way it has.
  9. Can Marlon catch the ball? 2 years 1.85 million doesnt seem bad...but then again this is the franchise that let Bowden sign Guzman for however much he did
  10. *bump* Hey Bruce, just wanted to see if that was in fact you that posted at Desipio.com's boards the other day. Anyways if that was you, don't take Andy's comments to heart (as I'm sure you didn't). The site is a great read, even if he rips on everyone and everything Cubs (except Lee and Zambrano).
  11. Is Eyre making 3.6? I read in multiple places it was 2 years 11 million with a player option for a third year?
  12. My prediction of our lineup next year: Perez - SS Cedeno/Macais - 2B Lee - 1B Ramirez - SS Encarnation/Jones - RF Patterson - CF Murton - LF Barrett - C (catchers gotta hit 8th)
  13. This team is going to stink, I feel.
  14. More like "OMG HE PAID HOW MUCH FOR EYRE???? AND THEY WANT ME TOO??? IM RICH BEOTCH!!!"
  15. I would appreciate it if you did not group most of us with Jim Hendry. We're just along for the ride...and the funeral of the 2006 Chicago Cubs.
  16. Geez, no wonder baseball is being dropped from the Olympics
  17. ^^ That's not even a competitive offer. He already turned down 3 years 30 million from the Padres and in the past has stated his desire to stay on the West coast. If true the Cubs are basically offering him less. It would be like their "offer" to Beltran last year. If they make an offer, it will be too low to sign and enough to pacify the fans. The Cubs franchise is a joke.
  18. Giles is an OBP machine. The Cubs had the highest BA and SLG in the NL last year but were like 9th in runs. You do the math to determine what the missing link was. So far the moves the Cubs have considered are lateral. The Cubs don't have a clue what they are doing. Please prove me wrong.
  19. Like Andy Dolan said at Desipio today: Lee wins the Silver Slugger award for being the best hitting 1B in the NL. Lee wins the Gold Glove award for being the best fielding 1B in the NL. Yet another NL first baseman wins the MVP award. Its a freakin sham.
  20. Probably just a precaution in case Furcal doesnt sign and Nomar stiffs the Cubs. A terrible terrible option that would end up costing Hendry his job. At least he hit a GW WS HR once...
  21. Golden State - Loss Portland - Win Seattle - Win Los Angeles - Loss San Antonio - Win (5 days off) Houston - Loss 3-3 Edit: Holy crap I really did just predict the Bulls to win in San Antonio
  22. Like someone on the first page said, it would be worth it if only to see the reaction that TWalk would have on the way out.
  23. Do they still have the same GM that they had in 2003 for the Lee trade? How about 2002 for the Clement/Willis trade?
