  1. For those nice summer days at Wrigley: Catastrophy Under Blue Skys For me: Cranky Unless Baker's Scrapped For last years team: Cruising Until the Bullpen Screws up
  2. Not going to lie, I really like what they've done to the Cell since it opened. I actually tend to go there sometimes just to enjoy a modern baseball experience. Actually, since I don't have a favorite team playing, I go there to enjoy baseball for baseball. I have no complaints with the Cell. Their fans....thats a different story. I won't get into the time I admitted my Cub fandom to some (rather large) Sox fans in the UD and was then followed all the way down to the Bullpen Sports Bar with them screaming homophobic names behind me all the way down (and I'm not gay, but I guess my choice of teams makes me I guess). Pretty pathetic, I know its just a small sample, but I find that lesser examples of this are the norm rather then the exception.
  3. So if you factor in players lost to injuries, the Cubs are still worse?
  4. Yeah, I probably wouldn't go. You know the chances are that the Cubs lose 9-0, and you won't hear the end of it from Sox fans. I dunno, maybe if you have a good tolerance for pain you could go.
  5. Dudes, he's so fast, why would you move him from leadoff
  6. Last I checked, Floyd was hitting about .186 and he absolutely can NOT hit left handed pitching. I don't think he's the answer. The Cubs need every day offense. My bad, I didn't look at his splits, I just remembered that he had a pretty good year last year.
  7. Embarassment off the field maybe, but at least they could hit better then this bunch. Look at their lineup though: Corey - Not a leadoff hitter, cant get on base, sucked badly, don't blame them for getting rid of him (just WHEN they got rid of him) Walker - Still on team Sosa - Post steroids Sosa started to show, was cranky and a team distraction, don't blame them for getting rid of him Alou - Sucked for 2 years of his contract then randomly got good, history of injuries and 2 straight healthy years made it a bad gamble to resign, aging and likely to decline (although he didn't), don't blame them for getting rid of him Nomar - Injured all the time, no longer a viable SS defensively, very streaky, would have liked to have had him for LF or RF, might have a point here Lee - Still on team Ramirez - Still on team Barrett - Still on team Now think of all the players that we could have gotten to replace them? Not many. I think the biggest mistake was not trading Sosa for Floyd when the trade was on the table. Pierre Cedeno Floyd Lee Ramirez Barrett Murton Walker
  8. They played on the same team in 2003. Todd must have known something about Todd's pitches....
  9. I mentioned before, the Riot isn't listed on the Bench. Maybe he didn't out there in time? Maybe he's joining the team vs. San Fran? I coulda sworn that I saw him on the bench during the pregame chatter.
  10. Neifi and Bynum get in the game before The Riot, and I wonder, what's the point?
  11. you don't have to pitch five to get a loss, only a win, so yeah, he will get the loss. Can you imagine the lack of a rush to get into the game if that we're the case?
  12. How do you figure? You know of a 6 run inning that we don't
  13. I'm getting to a point that I just want them to lose for however long it takes for Dusty to get fired. I know it's not all his fault, but it sure as hell wouldn't hurt. As I alluded to in another thread, if the Cubs lose tonite, it will be the fourth losing streak of at least 7 games in the past year under Dusty. That isn't good. In a year??? That's just terrible. I want to see a manager with some fire...when was the last time Dusty got ejected for arguing? When you're losing this much surely there's SOMETHING to argue and show your team that you have some fight in you... Even today, Steve Stone insisted that it's only a matter of time before Baker gets an extension. How can Hendry possibly sell that to the fans? If that happens, does anyone want to put together a protest outside Wrigley trying to deter fans from going into the park? It probably won't happen, but we might get some pub for it. Perhaps a Homer Simpson-esque hunger strike while chained to the Harry Caray statue? I don't care what we do. I just want to have the management know that some fans are completely disgruntled, and we aren't going to take this crap year after year anymore

  15. Well at least we don't have to worry about trying to resign Maddux next year.
  16. I kinda had a feeling that the whole Maddux rejuvination thing was a bit overblown. More like he improved slightly from last year, but was mostly on a good stretch to start the year.
  17. OMGWTF he has no speed! He can't lead off! Without speed, how can you steal first? Without speed, how else can you make a groundout to second look really really really close?
  18. Can you imagine Z and Noc on the same bench? Actually, can you imagine Z and Noc sitting on your living room couch drinking with you?
