    If the Cubs went after Nomar, it would be a disaster. Nomar has all the leverage there. It seems like every team in baseball has been interested in Nomar right now, plus the fact that the Cubs basically chose Furcal over Nomar and pushed him to the curve. To resign Nomar we'd have to pay him for at least a 3 year deal at $10 million per. You might think I'm crazy, but remember, the Cubs (if they went after Nomar) would need Nomar a lot more then Nomar needs the Cubs.

    Don't know if its been reported here yet, i heard an interview on the score about 20 minutes ago from the guy who wrote the LA Times piece. He seemed pretty sure of the deal and was talking as if it was complete...

    5/55 for Giles when the Cubs will probably throw 5/60 at an inferior player (who might help in more areas, but I believe he won't help more performance wise) Hendry is not my homeboy

    Without reading 25+ pages on this....this signing means that which players are expendable/bound for Iowa in April: Bullpen as I see it: Dempster ® Howry ® Eyre (L) Williamson ® Ohman (L) Wuertz (L)/Rusch (L) (depending on if a starter is aquired/status of Kerry) Novoa ® These players are expendable or in AAA: Williams Wellemeyer Mitre

    None of wich you get from a DH, so what's your point? Spending money on a power hitter is less money they can spend on pitching, defense and speed Edit: Also getting rid of Rowand kinda gets rid of that whole Gold Glove caliber CF doesnt it?

    I'm still irked at the teams inability to be even slight factors in the player that can help the team the most IMO. (That would be Giles and his .424 OBP last year)

    I was going to say at least your not a Cub fan, but you are. Anyways, from a Bears perspective, great half. The biggest suprise has been Kyle Orton. You think that Grossman/Orton talk this week has been beneficial to him? Also only allowing 1 decent drive by Carolina in a half has me exciting. I expect the Panthers to come out energized this half though. I think 10 points by the Bears in the second half locks this one up though

    I understand why...baseball is a business, and a businesses will find the supply/demand equilibrium that makes it the most profit.

    Every bit of news this offseason has been great so far. This one temps me less to spend money on the Cubs next year if the offseason continues the way it has.

    Can Marlon catch the ball? 2 years 1.85 million doesnt seem bad...but then again this is the franchise that let Bowden sign Guzman for however much he did

    *bump* Hey Bruce, just wanted to see if that was in fact you that posted at Desipio.com's boards the other day. Anyways if that was you, don't take Andy's comments to heart (as I'm sure you didn't). The site is a great read, even if he rips on everyone and everything Cubs (except Lee and Zambrano).

    Is Eyre making 3.6? I read in multiple places it was 2 years 11 million with a player option for a third year?

    My prediction of our lineup next year: Perez - SS Cedeno/Macais - 2B Lee - 1B Ramirez - SS Encarnation/Jones - RF Patterson - CF Murton - LF Barrett - C (catchers gotta hit 8th)
