  1. Cubs really are trying to make this as painful as possible. give up 2 runs, score 3 runs, then give up 3 runs and score 2 runs
  2. Pitching or hitting depth. That’s why we’re collapsing right now. At the end of the day Jed built a team that is not a finished product. Our guys wore down and there’s nothing to replace them with. Like someone pointed out Drew Smyly is currently our only semi-reliable reliever
  3. Merryweathers 2nd appearance in 11 days and it looks like it
  4. Well Happ was clearly trying to homer there, which is completely fine even though it didn’t work out
  5. Oh wait it’s only the 8th? I legit thought it was the 9th, I’ve just been following on my phone
  6. The chefs kiss on this will be when they pitch around Bellinger to face Swanson
  7. If we didn’t have by far the hardest remaining schedule of the WC contenders and if we didn’t lose every single potential tiebreaker I might be able to talk myself into having hope. I mean sure anything can happen in baseball and I’m not saying it’s improbable that the Cubs play 1 game better than 2 other teams over a 9 game span but it feels less and less likely that the team is suddenly going to turn it on overnight.
  8. Still owes us like 4 more for his defense the last 2 nights
  9. Why do you have to be so negative geez? (I'm 100% kidding lol)
  10. Yet another pitcher with an ERA over 4 completely shuts down the Cubs offense
  11. *sitting in an empty Wrigley Field at 2am* It's gonna happen...really soon
  12. Is this team even going to finish over .500?
  13. That’s just what happens when this team slumps. It’s may all over again
  14. I hope you are just documenting what happened and not trying to use this as evidence that your spread out the good hitters theory is right.
  15. Ok I’m done for the night. Hope they come back but it’s looking like the same story we’ve see on 90% of our games the last 2 weeks
  16. Shockingly this is setting up for another big Swanson AB. Can’t pitch around Bellinger here though
  17. Yes we all understand that things happen up and down the lineup that lead to critical ABs being taken by slumping hitters. But it’s going to happen more frequently in the part of the lineup where the best hitters are hitting. And going to happen more often because the top of the order inevitably bats more. Having a hitter who has been top 5 in the league the last 2 months hitting 6th behind one of the worst is insanity
  18. Is the bullpen still quiet? Is Ross going to let 3-4 runs score before he does anything? I get it, everyone is gassed. But kyle isn’t fooling anyone and he looks like he has nothing left
  19. Kyle at 81 pitches and has gotten hit hard the first 3 batters of the inning. If this is being treated like a playoff game someone should be ready to come in
  20. Disagree. No one is going to walk 2 straight hitters to get to Swanson. 1 when you have an open base of course. But you’re either pitching to Bellinger or your pitching to Seiya
  21. .570 since 8/7 guy weakly grounds out with 1st and 3rd and 2 outs
  22. Has anyone asked him why he constructs his lineups so that he repeatedly neutralizes his best hitter? You know it’s bad when I’m questioning whether the runners should have advanced to 2nd and 3rd on the passed ball. Everyone in the stadium knew what was going to happen after that.
