  1. Also I know I’m overreacting and it’s been a whole 2 days since we came back from a 3-0 deficit in the 3rd inning
  2. I’ve been bracing for this. His xFIP as a starter is like 2.30 runs higher than his ERA though I don’t think he’s looked bad by any means thats ok we have Taillon as a pick-me-up tomorrow against a cy young contender
  3. Only one other relevant game tonight: Dodgers @ Marlins at 5:40 CT. Someone named Ryan Pepiot is starting for the Dodgers while Braxton Garrett is going for the Marlins. Dodgers trying to avoid a sweep. We'll either gain or lose 0.5 games on the Brewers, Phillies, Reds and Giants (if they're still a concern) depending on our result tonight. Best case WC standings (in addition 1 GB Brewers) Phillies +1 Cubs -- Reds -4.5 ----------------------- Marlins -4.5 DBacks -5 Giants -6.5 Worst case WC standings (2 GB Brewers) Phillies +2 Cubs -- Marlins -2.5 ------------------ DBacks -3 Reds -3.5 Giants -5.5
  4. The Nate Davis experience is wild
  5. Will be interesting to see if KB returns. He's just started taking BP. They have no reason to rush him back but if he's healthy and they are fine with him returning for meaningless games I could see him playing in that series at Wrigley
  6. Weird little scheduling tidbit - Every single NL team has played the NL West at least 28 games, except for the Cubs who have only played 20 games against the NL West (and just a few days ago had only played 17). As of this moment with 2 weeks and change left in the season we've only even played 3 of the 5 NL West teams. The Dodgers and Padres games were all played in April and early May. Between early May and Monday we only played 3 games against the NL West (in mid-June at SF). Now we're in a stretch where 16 of our final 25 games are against that division. Edit: Correction, I guess I'm remembering wrong. The series in San Diego was in early June, but they played both series against the Dodgers and one series against the Padres in April.
  7. There are several teams that have bounced back from bad starts to end up making the playoffs/advancing far. The major difference with the Cubs seems to be how far into the season they turned it around 2003 Marlins - Hit low water mark on May 22, falling to 19-29. They hit .500 on June 24 (39-39) and 10 games over on July 30 (59-49) 2019 Nationals - Low water mark on May 23 at 19-31. They hit .500 on June 27 (40-40) and 10 games over on August 14 (65-55), though were 9 games over back on July 24. 2023 Cubs - Low water mark on June 8 at 26-36. They hit .500 on July 27 (51-51) and 10 games over on September 1 (72-62)
  8. Obviously different when you live in the market your favorite team plays is, but I'm more than satisfied with every Bears game plus Red Zone channel. It gives me everything I need.
  9. Gallen has given up 11 runs in his last 2 starts (10.1 IP). Taillon has only given up 10 runs in 11.2 IP his last 2 😂
  10. Reds lose. Cubs end the day 3.5 games ahead of the Marlins for WC3 and 4 games ahead of the Reds and DBacks
  11. Damn Marlins up 9-1 now. Gonna win their 6th straight after falling under .500. Sucks that these guys we have lost the tiebreaker to are the ones hanging around. I'm pretty sure we'll make the playoffs at this point but I'd like to stretch that lead out as much as possible.
  12. Dodgers are really annoying me with their lack of Marlin-beating
  13. Geez the DBacks piling it on now, up 10-5. Phillies are up 4 now too. Need the Reds and Marlins to fall tonight so we can increase our WC3 cushion to 4 games and playoff cushion to 4.5 games.
  14. lol, I literally did not watch or follow the Cleveland half of the 9th inning of Game 7. I was walking around in Wrigleyville listening to various sounds coming from bars because I couldn't stomach the thought of being in public watching the Cubs getting walked off in Game 7 of the World Series.
  15. FG Playoff odds up to 92.1% based on their projections and 95.7% based on season to date stats. Edit: Also up to 41% to win the division and 4.9% to win the World Series
  16. DBacks are still in the 3rd inning of their game and have a 4 hour flight ahead of them tonight while the Cubs get to chill at home.
  17. Brewers off tomorrow too so the Cubs can get it to 1 game. 1 GB is important because it allows the winner of the final series of the season to win the division.
  18. So the Cubs have gone 7-3 so far in the 14 game stretch against teams we're competing with for playoff spots. Not bad at all.
  19. Canario and Little both get strikeouts in their first major league action! Edit: dammit, beaten! lol
  20. 9th straight game the Cubs have had the lead in the 9th. The 2 blown ones to Cincinnati with no offense suck but its a sign that we're playing really good baseball.
  21. Damn, at least he got some good hacks in there and now he gets a Major League Baseball Reference page
