  1. And it was almost downed inside the 5 haha
  2. Interesting play call, I guess the Jets wanted to see if the Bears run d was as weak as the numbers have shown lately
  3. Bad coverage there...is it just me or does this game feel like its in slow motion so far?
  4. Pretty much echoed my sentiments. I was a bit upset with how many blitzes Michigan threw at OSU in the first half as Smith was calmly tearing apart the UM secondary. I think Michigan was expecting Smith to run more as he did the last 2 years, but if you watched him this year, he has had a much stronger pocket presence. I have to wonder what would have changed if that personal foul wasn't called on that 3rd and 15 on OSU's last TD drive. I think we could have won, but OSU definitely played better yesterday. As far as a rematch, I am the same way. I can't sit there and root against USC/ND/FLA/ARK/etc so that my team can get a rematch. They didn't win their conference, so as much as it sucks, they shouldn't play a rematch. However, should a rematch occur, I would take it. Can you imagine how interesting it would be if Michigan were to beat OSU by like 1 on a neutral field?
  5. Since when does CT write analysis for Rotoworld?
  6. Please save my weekend Bears, because I know the Bulls won't do it against Kobe tonight
  7. 6-10!!!!!!!!! Thats 1-2 wins away from mediocre!
  8. Isn't it funny that after all these years of the big game, this year OSU and Michigan are playing to NOT go to the Rose Bowl? :)
  9. Derrek Lee will come back with a vengeance and become the best player in the NL (i hope)
  10. OK WOW. I would be enthused about Soriano if we got Drew too! LOL
  11. No numbers listed, but I think he will still be regretting not signing that contract extension the Red Sox offered him before 2004. Wasn't it like 4 years 60 million?
  12. Hopefully, Neal Cotts last season isn't what impressed him. True, maybe I should say he's enamored by career seasons. But I could be wrong, I can't think of many other great examples except Cotts, Soriano, and Ramirez (pre-2003)
  13. It seems like his OBP is much higher whenever he's the leadoff hitter. Maybe its a mental thing where he only thinks he needs to show patience when he's leading off and that leads to much better success. Looking at his three year splits, you do have a point. But those numbers can rationalized because the majority of his leadoff at bats have come during his career (contract) year last year. Don't feel like typing out the stats again, but here is the link to them: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/splits?statsId=6154&type=batting3
  14. I think the point is, the Cubs are desperate. And the only thing they have going for them is their cash. Soriano at a huge deal isn't ideal. He's not as good as the true elites that make the big bucks, but the Cubs already missed out on most of those guys. They need some offense. And if you're going to overpay, you might as well overpay for somebody who at least has a chance to put up some great seasons. How about JD Drew Career .905 OPS is better then every Soriano season except last year (.911). HIS last 3 years: .305/.436/.569/1.005, 158 OPS+ .286/.412/.520/.932, 148 OPS+ .283/.393/.498/.891, 125 OPS+ I know his numbers show a bit of a decline, but at his decline his numbers still match up as a better fit to the Cubs then Sorianos....not to mention his deal would probably end up cheaper then Sorianos. I know YOU know this, but I am not sure if the Cubs do. It almost seems like they are trying to get the biggest free agent in order to keep the fans happy and in the seats.
  15. His 2 years before the last (monster) year: 2004 - .280/.324/.484/.808 18 SB, 98 OPS+ 2005 - .268/.309/.512/.821 30 SB, 110 OPS+ His best year OPS wise before last year was .879, which is decent but not great. I guess I just don't see the point of paying upwards of 16-17 million a year for this production based on a contract year performance... Then again, switching to a more mediocre league might have helped, but still.
  16. I just want him for his OBP...I think it would take a lot of burden off of the rest of our lineup to have one stable OBP guy in there. His above average power is a bonus.
  17. Lets just hope that he plays more like his .911 OPS last season, rather then his career .835 OPS, because we are going to pay a LOT. Why does JH always bite on everyone's last season?
  18. Hawks just lost to said team in a shootout 2-1 3-2 was the final, but the point still remains. Another blown 3rd period lead for the Hawks. A Bulls loss and a Hawks loss. And chances are the same thing will happen tomorrow night too... Sorry, I meant that the SO was 2-1 Coyotes
  19. Hawks just lost to said team in a shootout 2-1
  20. And that my friends is how to spend money. To be honest, I think Drew was only considered as a fallback plan in case we didn't get Soriano. Of course why would the best OBP threat in FA be the number one priority for the Cubs. Why get Drew when we can spend more for Soriano?
  21. This team blows.... Damn Kobe, I want a PS3!
  22. It's funny because normally the majority of our posters are fiscally conservative about what the Cubs are spending for big names, but now a lot of people don't care...just sign a bunch of people and worry about the negatives later. I think the majority of the posters have no problem over-spending for good players. It's the 3/13 million for DeRosa's of the world that drives everyone here crazy... Not everyone, I certainly saw the value in it and there were several other people that didnt have a problem with it either. Try not to speak for everyone, just because the majority agrees with you. I wasn't dancing in the streets over it but I certainly understand why he was signed even if it was slightly over paying. I think alot of people are going to be eating crow on the DeRosa signing. Not to turn this into another DeRosa thread, but Mike North tried to make a point today that Mr. DeRosa fit 'a little too well' in his uniform last year compared to his other years. Probably just unfounded speculation, but can't dismiss it altogether
