Sounds like something Brewers fans were saying after the Cubs sat Lee and Ramirez yesterday. Plus Hart is 6 for his last 37, and Hardy is 5 for his last 35. Not exactly helping the Brewers offense right now.
Cubs.com says Jake Fox will have number 9 for the Cubs. Some of the recent Cubs to wear number 9: Juan Pierre, Scott McClain, Jody Gerut, Paul Bako, and Todd Hundley. Hank White also wore it for a season.
ARGH!!!! #*&@#*($&@#*($&@#*$& DOUBLE ARGH @#*($&@#*($&@#*($&@#$ And, a few words I'm not allowed to type here. Sorry Jake, but we had to dump our garbage somewhere and apparantly your Pittsburgh Pirates wanted him. I wonder how my Pirates fans friends from Penn State are reacting. Is Littlefield still the GM? How does he still have a job? I just cant believe how far the Pirates have fallen in the last 6 games. I would assume given their hot end to the first half that a .500 season any maybe even playoff contention were some of the goals for the second half. Then 6 losses in a row later, they are trading for Izturis for some reason.
I also remember reading that the Nomar deal was only a myth until a day or two before the deadline when Hendry pulled everyone together and made a deal. I could be remembering wrong though.
He is worse than a broken clock. A broken clock is at least right twice a day. (wishful thinking) Yup, he's usually right when reporting the number of runs the Cubs scored and the number of runs the opponent scores each day.
Very good point. Probably makes the most sense, unless a miracle happened with the other guys. A 12 man staff means you only have 5 bench players, and Lee's suspension means it's only 4. Gallagher is unavailable today and probably tomorrow. Fox may just be here for a day or two. But how will he be added to the 40-man? Wade Miller and Prior are already on the 60 day? Hmmm... Novoa DFA? Guzman 60 day?

Also to expand on that point, since we are already down a hitter (Lee) and there is no way that Gallagher can pitch today and probably tomorrow (making a 11 man staff guaranteed), they decided to get the extra hitter for the next 2 games before Demp comes back.
I'd like to think Jones was traded, but I'm thinking Gallagher is sent down since he threw 4 innings yesterday and the rest of the bullpen is completely rested. Dempster is scheduled to throw an inning in AAA either today or tomorrow and then rejoin the team. Makes the most sense.
Only possibilities: -Jones traded -Pagan sent down (but why?) -Gallagher sent down (then Fox will be sent back down when Dempster returns sometime this weekend) -Eyre DFA (wishful thinking) -Izturis DFA What else?
Don't worry, we'll see the sinkerballer tomorrow (while we throw Jason Marquis out there!) He's 4-0 with a 2.52 ERA in 6 career starts against the Cubs.
What does our offensive production have anything to do with QS's? The only reason Z came out after 5 IP was because of the 9-0 score. A pitcher has to go 6 innings with 3 or fewer runs to get a quality start. I guess next time Lou should tell his players to stop scoring so that Z can chase a meaningless statistic.
You mean like leaving Prior in for over 120+ pitches with a 12-3 lead in Game 2 of the NLCS?? Notwithstanding your failure to get the facts right, that's the best example of Dusty's "leave em in with a big lead" strategy killing us. What is wrong with my facts. OK it was a 12-2 lead. But he came on and faced 2 batters in the 8th before Baker finally pulled him. If he didn't have 120 pitches he had more than 115, Im 99% sure.
I'm sure he will. I bet the plan is to have Gallagher pitch the 6th and 7th with Eyre pitching the 8th and 9th and Petrick on call if either gives up like 3-4 runs.
