    In the last 7 days we are 25th in the league in BA (.243), 28th in OBP (.296), 30th and last in SLG (.346) and 29th in OPS (.641)

    This team has 2005 Cubs written all over it. Feast or famine offense, passable starting pitching and pathetic bullpen. Good enough to hover around .500, not good enough to get on a streak that will put them in playoff contention.

    I still don't think the Cubs will win the division, but I think their odds are a lot better then what people here are giving them. My prediction of 78 wins looks pretty good right now. The only thing that bothers me is that one of my main reasons was that the starting pitching sucks (along with no emphasis on OBP), but its the bullpen thats doing the sucking.

    Cordero blamed a lot of his early season play on the health of his grandmother. He said he couldn't concentrate. He even went on the bereavement list for a week to be by her side. Since then his numbers are: 7.0 IP, 3 H, 3 BB, 5 K, 0 ER, 0.00 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, 3 SV, 1 H

    I'm one of the most pessimistic people on this board but...c'mon we are alone in second place despite our terrible play. Milwaukee is losing 5 times a week, and you know that the team has played under expectations. The division is ripe for the taking, and we could easily win it.

    Why was Ramirez so mad? My guess was that he thought he had a juicy pitch to drive and he topped it and it ended up being a groundout. He really booked it out of the box though...

    I know that Young is a good pitcher, but I haven't seen the Cubs hacking this bad all year.

    I think he started out the season red hot and was starting to go on a bit of a slump when the neck injury occured. The slump itself was not a big deal, but the fact that he had to miss almost a week really punctuated his slump and in turn prolonged it. I think the person we need to worry about is Soriano who is slugging almost 90 points less than Lee on the year.

    This has all the makings of "we lost the first 2 with pathtic offense and now we are facing a shutdown pitcher so we'll probably get swept but all the sudden our bats come alive and stave off a sweep with a blowout victory"

    To be honest, they were always around. Sucky Cubs just happen to be better than the Suckier Pirates and Suckiest Nationals. Not last year If last years team was an F, this one is a D+ at best. Considering the amount of resources that were spent on the team and the fact that the injuries have been minimal, shouldn't this be an F as well?

    We've lost 8 in a row in SD after I think going 6-1 in our first 7 games there.
