Is there any chance that the Cubs can fire Hendry at midseason? It's against the Cubs best interests to make sure that he does not make a bunch of bad moves that jeopardize the future of the team in a desperate attempt to save his job. Or would the impending sale make the Cubs reluctant to pay a fired Hendry and a new GM at the same time?
It has been over since they went on that six game losing streak. It was over when Hendry decided that Izturis could be a starting SS, Jones could be a starting RF, and we could get by with Jason Marquis as a starter. We were doomed from the start of the season. The season isn't over. It's not over, but you need to start considering it to be severely damaged when you are 8.5 games out in late June.
How the heck are we going to rebuild? Who is going to take on Lilly, Marquis, Soriano, Howry, Eyre, DeRosa? We have tons of bad contracts that aren't going anywhere. We are stuck as an overpaid mess of a team for the next 2-3 years.
The Padres should quickly realize that his defense is terrible and his bat is not enough to offset the PB's and mental lapses. Especially with his fly balls dying in that air at Petco. His power numbers and numbers overall should go down there.
For those wondering, Cliff started his career at 1B and has played 116 games at 1st in his career. The scary thing is, he hasn't played a regular season game there since 1997, so its been 10 years.
vance is the man. Probably the most complete poster on the board, brings insight, analysis, passion and humor among other things to his posts. If CM was up against some other higher seeds, it would be considered because I like what he brings, but can't diss the vance here.
I'd consider getting rid of Soriano and his ridiculous contract. That doesn't mean I don't like Alfonso or his play this year, I just think its ridiculous to be paying him $15 million when hes 38.
