    That's all he does nowadays. While it is true that Z naturally has a quick swing, the uppercut is not natural.. He's a pitcher and he's paid to pitch. Well yeah, but you'd think he could afford a 10 minute session with the hitting coach to fix his swing a bit since he is that much more valuable when he can hit.

    This isn't old. At all. Hendry's crappy signings are. Ted Lilly...good. Marquis...ok. Soriano...ok. DeRosa...good. Howry...decent. Eyre...ok. Rammy...good. Z...good. Perez...awful Jones...ok Blanco...bad Floyd...ok My corrections.

    Least we did something finally? Can't complain if he only plays against lefties: .302/.317/.542/.859 against lefties .190/.244/.309/.552 against righties

    Yeah that was one of the most predictable suicide squeezes I've ever seen. I was predicting it before the AB started, and when the count was 3-1 I was just praying that they wouldnt screw it up.

    I was reading along Stark's recent column, when I came to a bit about Mark Prior: That is interesting. I thought that the consensus around here was that the Cubs would surely keep him after his surgery to see what he still has. Is there a chance that Prior will get non-tendered? My theory is that we've thrown enough money his way, we might as well do it for one more year and see what he has got.

    I don't even mind a lot of his moves since the championship. I never agreed with the Vazquez trade, I didn't think it was necessary. But I thought he built a nice bench with Cintron and Mackowiack among others. He got rid of Polite and Cotts when they regressed, and while his decision to pickup every live arm he could for his bullpen failed miserably, it was somewhat of a rational strategy, although he certainly should have gotten at least 1-2 proven arms he could count on. Bottom line is, the Sox probably aren't going to compete for a title anytime soon. Their core is aging. Thome, Dye, Konerko, Contreras, etc are old. Kenny would have to make some pretty swift moves to get this team contending next year. But they do have some younger talent contributing or about to contribute. I think Fields will be solid, and they have some decent prospects in the farm system.

    Exactly what I came here to ask. Jones and Floyd in the lineup against a tough lefty? The Fontenot came in 2/3 of the way through the game? Did Lou know something I didn't know? What was brutal is the Giants used lefties in relief too. Really showed in that Jones AB in the 10th. Brutal. Jones was embarassing yesterday. Floyd had the key hit so I don't see that argument at all. Sure in hindsight it worked, but statistically speaking, thats a curious decision to start those 2 against a lefty.

    I think we should be thanking the pitching. 11 hits in 2 days is usually not what you'd hope for. The starters have combined for what 15IP 3ER in the first 2 games?

    I have a feeling after being held to 11 hits the first 2 games, the Cubs bats will wake out and we will be sweeping our way out of SF. The Giants had great opportunities to take the first 2 games, but this is a game that the Cubs will show who is in first and who is in last.
