  1. Paraphrasing a Hendry interview from about a week ago on what deals he's looking to make: "I'm always looking to improve the team, but I also know we have nice pieces here. I'm not going to look to go out and replace Ryan Dempster. I'm not going to go look for someone to replace Ryan Theriot." I know we should always look for improvement, but we're winning and Theriot is doing a solid job both ways and providing some spark into the lineup and clubhouse. He's done just about everything you can ask for and it just doesn't seem like you should reward that by replacing the guy, especially when things are clicking on the field and in the clubhouse. Obviously, Tejada is and always will be the better player, but I just don't think you go out of your way to improve something that isn't really that much of a problem when you have other problems much bigger than replacing a solid #2 hitter. I suppose, but that DiamondBacks series has to have left a bad taste in somebody's mouth. It was the first halfway-decent team we faced in a long time, the Crew beats them and then they come to Wrigley and punk us. There are some better clubs coming up on our schedule now. I'm not comfortable just saying "we're winning" and "it's clicking" after getting beat 2/3 by an also-ran in the playoff race -- including getting shut out -- and coming up on Philly & the Mets in the near future. Even Colorado 8/10 - 8/12 could pose a problem, those boys can hit. Yeah but the Brewers lost 3/4 to the Pirates, 2/3 to the Nationals and 2/3 to the Giants, while we lost 2/3 to the Pirates, 1/4 to the Nationals, and 1/4 to the Giants. So the Brewers went 6-8 vs. the Pirates, Nationals, Giants and DBacks, while we went 8-6
  2. Seriously....where is Cuse? His posting stopped abruptly on March 8th? I'm a little worried about him... Chris probably doesn't have as much interest now that the DJaxx are no longer affiliated. But I could be wrong.
  3. Cardinals suck. I'm sick of them bragging about their fluky 2006 championship. I would have much rather their 2004 team won it. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  5. Adding to this discussion, I want to see how people think Matt Murton would project over a full season at the peak of his career. I'd say .310/.400/.485
  6. I think he would be a rental. Despite his age and his terrible first half, if the market is anything like last years, if he has a solid second half to go along with the 40 HR season last year, teams will be lining up to sign him.
  7. Seriously, I hope the Wrigley fans give him a 10 minute standing ovation the first day he takes the mound. Sadly, it will probably be the opposite. I doubt it. Kerry Wood is probably the most universally loved player the Cubs have had since Sandberg I was out by the players parking lot during a game in 2005 waiting for players to come out. The first player to come out was a disabled Kerry Wood. When he walked out, a guy yells "KERRY WOOD GET THE HELL OUT OF CHICAGO YOU BUM!" and then the rest of the crowd, almost if on cue started a long, loud booing. Kerry pretended like he didn't notice it, but you could see it in his eyes that he did. Experiences like that make me wonder why he said that he owed it to the fans to come back this season.
  8. Congrats! I've often wondered how to become a mod as it is my greatest dream. I guess you have to get requested by Modzilla. Interesting.
  9. Alright! 3 games out of the division and 1.5 back of the wild card. All in all a fairly successful day, and we didn't even play!
  10. HAWPE! FANTASY AND REALITY HAPPINESS!
  11. Whoops spoke too soon there!
  12. Looks like we will lose ground in the WC today now that the Padres bullpen is in the game. Padres up 5-2 in the 8th.
  13. Pence out 4-6 weeks, you still want to predict 1/3?
  14. Why wouldnt the Brewers have double switched Shouse into the game? Any chance we see Shouse hitting this inning?
  15. Walked him by hitting him with the pitch!
  16. I have a feeling the Brewers have a 4 game sweep. This was the one the Reds were supposed to win
  17. This one's over
  18. Brewers have to score in the 11th with Hardy, Braun and Fielder due up
  19. That's not huge splash? Keep in mind that there is very little trade chatter going on in the league right now. If we got a starter (which is useless to us) and Lofton, that would be a huge splash
  20. We got trouble here...
  21. He's only thrown 112 pitches so far..
  22. The last pitcher to go 10 IP was Roy Halladay on 4/13. The Jays won the game in the 10th
  23. The Brewers will win this game. The Reds lineup sucks and the Brewers bullpen is really good. 0-0 tie between Pads and Rockies after 1/2 inning.
  24. I think Soriano will continue to hit leadoff no matter what. Even so, I think getting Lofton would be a nice pickup Soriano Lofton Lee Ramirez Floyd DeRosa Theriot Kendall Bench: Ward Fontenot Pagan Blanco Jones (?)
  25. I like the first part of that article that talks about the Cubs hanging around most trade talks. At least we know Hendry is looking to make a deal.
