  1. 2-2 after Garret Atkins singled home Matt Holliday
  2. I feel the same way. Except the offense as it is right now, should be much more powerful then it is. If the bloop singles and clutch hits stop falling, I would expect the power numbers to sharply rise. We have only hit 7 HRs this month, by far the lowest in baseball. The next lowest is the Nationals with 12. We have 5 players on this roster who have hit 27 HRs or more in a season, and 4 that have hit 34 or more in a season, and right now only 1 player is on pace for even 30 (Aramis)
  3. Wainright has really been pitching well as of late. For some reason, I am predicting the Cubs offense to breakout tonight however. Soriano will get a couple of hits and a HR. I say Cubs win this one 8-3.
  4. Before Tillman got his chunk of change, I thought maybe the Bears might revisit a long term deal with Briggs after the season...but now I'm not so sure about that. Especially with Harris's extension coming up soon, and if for some reason Grossman does good next year his extension. I highly doubt they can keep Briggs past this year. That's what happens in football though, its really hard to keep a dominating unit in tact.
  5. I really like how the Bears handled this. I don't like the prospects of him returning after 2007, but who cares. They completely owned Drew, they knew he had no leverage, and they got what they wanted with minimal damage to the team.
  6. OK, one word to sum up Kendall's performance with the Cubs thus far, pathetic. Yes, he is 1-15 with the Cubs thus far (so far he has a chance to better the starts of Koyie Hill, 1-16, and Rob Bowen, 1-23, but not by much). Yes he grounds everything in sight, but what I'm also worried about is his defense. We knew going in that his defense was going to be subpar, but I didn't realize it would be this bad. Can't throw out a runner to save his life, has trouble blocking balls it seems, drops a lot of pitches. Furthermore, his inability to get on the same page as Z last night was frustrating. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt I guess because its the first time he has caught Z, but you could tell Z was getting so frustrated by his game calling out there, Z was not focused. Meanwhile, Koyie Hill has seemingly adapted to Z's game almost seamlessly. Am I making unfair assumptions based on a handful of games here? I'm sure he won't play this bad this entire season, but I don't think he was any sort of upgrade for the Cubs this year. I know several posters will say that they knew that going in, but I was holding out hope that a change of scenery would bring him back some of his old self.
  7. Darn I was hoping the Rocks would have a shot to steal the game Chirs Young pitched
  8. Soriano 5 for his last 37 after that out. (.135)
  9. Is 35 innings in nearly 100 games pitched that many? Serious question... Since he wasn't even up for the first 50, I would say yes. Plus he pitches two innings most of the time. Fun fact, only 4 of Marmol's 30 appearences were for 2 innings or more. Conversely, 8 of his 30 appearences were for less than an inning.
  10. Oh come on. At this point I'd rather just walk Pujols
  11. 4 games behind the division 2.5 out of the wild card.
  12. Wow....ok well time to tip your cap and move on!
  13. Z just doesn't look right when anyone but Koyie Hill is catching him. Nah, its probably my imagination.
  14. Darn Cardinals fans.... Oh wait, Cubs fans would have done that as well.
  15. Woah people actually think SP is the biggest need? HAHA Get your jersey dirty Cedeno And calm down Zambrano
  16. Seriously, this is how new Cubs catchers have fared with the team this year: Koyie Hill 1-16 Rob Bowen 1-23 Jason Kendall 1-13 Combined 3-52 (.058)
  17. Kendall now 1-13 with the Cubs. Seriously does it take every Cubs catcher 25 ABs to acclimate to the Cubs offensively?
  18. SD up 3-0 early, and Brewers up 4-1. Better win or prepare to lose a lot of ground
  19. Time for Kendall to screw up and hit into a DP
  20. Left Hamstring Tendonitis (Either that or he is just sitting in the dugout in awe of Kip Wells' awesome stuff and cannot be moved)
  21. Looks like Ronny learned a lot about plate discipline in Iowa
