  1. I've been wanting to use that nickname for Soriano for 2 weeks and I finally do and he crushes a HR
  2. I could have told you that. The only way that they make the playoffs is if they randomly get hot like they did in June. But even then, it would only be a mirage as this team just isn't that good. No team in the central is good though and any team no matter how good or bad they are can get hot over 20 games. The division is still up for grabs. That team looks to be the Brewers If they do that's going to give them confidence to really be a dangerous team for years to come. They can flat out rake. Yup and considering that state the Cubs franchise will be in this offseason, this might be the first year since 2002 where I have no hope of competing before the season starts.

  5. Marshall is obviously hurt Paulino struck out swinging No I think that he has a dead arm from pitching a lot of innings. The Cubs wanted to rest his arm a bit and get a veteran in there that has dealt with playoff races. The logic is there, but I would never agree with the decision.
  6. Oh well...i honestly wasn't enjoying this playoff race anyways
  7. I asked you to do one thing when you came back to the Cubs Steve, and that was to not tarnish the memory of your 1998 Wild Card Playoff game. And look what you've freaking done.
  8. Also glad we threw him in the rotation despite having worse numbers than all of our other starters!
  9. And we're looking at second place if the scores hold up
  10. And Tracshel gives it right back
  11. They don't have anyone better on the streets on Cincinnati? Didn't Doumatrait shut the Cubs down pretty badly? How does that advance your argument? Edit: and no we crushed him 2 IP 5 ER

  13. Don't worry...that scrub Ben Sheets is throwing for the Brewers. The Reds will be right back in this one
  14. Well good at least someone is trying to win the division
  15. Sorry man. I'm feeling a run under my creating of game threads. Name the time and place for an old fashion knife fight. It's been a while... my point is that people get on the list and wait for months, so some might not take too kindly to you stealing their spot. lucky for you, Bob doesn't seem to care Well Bob is apparently MIA, and normally the person on deck would start. I was flying back from Europe when I got the PM so Cubbiechris started it because there was no thread. There's nothing wrong with that.
  16. I guess I am on deck so I was supposed to start if Bob Sanders did not appear, but I'm all for keeping the winning streak going. If we happen to lose and Bob Sanders is still MIA I'll start the next thread. Anyways, go Cubs but also GO BEARS
  17. Wonder if its because the Cubs are 2 games over .500 and are in the middle of a "race to lose the least"
  18. Why can't we just applaud the Reds for making a good move and then move on.
  19. Rich Hill's ERA is just around 4 now. Only Lilly is safely in the 3 range for our vaunted rotation.
  20. I dont care what hand pitcher he is facing, Craig Monroe is awful (5-25 with the Cubs, with over half against lefties)
  21. You remind me of myself when I just moved to Chicago in 2004. I tried to spend every waking moment at the park.
