  1. Starting pitching scores a decisive blow over offense in the battle for thing most concerned about in the playoffs.
  2. Guys we've cross the 4 run threshold in 4 consecutive games. The last time the Cubs scored more than 4 runs in CONSECUTIVE games was July 26 and 27 vs the White Sox.
  3. I’m sorry guys, I don’t want to punch this person in the face like at all. But Pete Crow-Armstrong has to be a contender for all the other fanbases.
  4. The Cubs are 1-6 in their last 7 games if they don’t come back and I was at the only win. The only other Cubs game I went to this year was the only win in a 1-4 stretch. I think someone needs to give me playoff tickets
  5. Seiya has hit as many HRs in his last 2 ABs as he has hit the entire rest of the second half of the season.
  6. As we all predicted, offense heating up right as the pitching starts to falter
  7. I think he’s talking about the Dansby HR? I dunno I’m not watching just checking the score on occasion
  8. Shota ERA 6.23 in his last 5 starts. Really rounding into form for the playoffs. Hobbled Horton and Taillon for G1 and G2?
  9. Shota looks ready for the Game 1 start lmao ERA over his last 6 starts: 5.10
  10. Shaw, still reeling from his podcast buddy’s death, gets in Dansby’s way, causing him to fall into the stands and give the Mets a run
  11. Last scheduled home night game of the year. We’ll see what happens next week
  12. The key is to not take anything they say seriously because they don’t take what they say seriously. They’re just hot take merchants
  13. Oh yeah I forgot about the rule that you couldn't play your own division in the NLDS back then. That was so annoying in situations like that.
  14. We kind of got revenge for 2004 in 2008. The Cubs had already clinched the number 1 seed and went to Shea Stadium in its last year and split a series with the Mets the final week of the season. The Mets ended up missing the playoffs by 1 game.
  15. Good call. Realistically it will probably be a 2 headed monster approach, with them hoping they can get 5-6 quality innings from some combo of Assad/Rea/Soroka
  16. I don't know if I agree with that. None of them are great options, but they wouldn't start in the WC round anyways assuming with no Horton the rotation is some combo of Boyd, Shota and Taillon. But in the later rounds, I can see the argument of going with the pitcher with better stuff and giving him a short leash. I dunno though, I still really like Assad. It doesn't really make any sense but it seems like he's still keeping up that ridiculous strand rate and seems to generally put together solid outings more often than not. Again, I'd rather not have to choose between any of them for Game 4 of an NLDS/NLCS but I'd go for a high floor guy and hope the offense puts up runs on the other team's number 4 starter.
  17. There are so many concerns: -Health/potential rust from Tucker -Seiya has 2 HRs post ASB and doesn't seem to be snapping out of it -PCA also has stopped hitting HRs -Horton is injured -Boyd has bounced back a little but has struggled in Aug/Sept -Shota giving up a lot of HRs lately -Bullpen hierarchy -Shaw might disappear to help fight of ANTIFA or something -Will Craig play young guys like Mo Balla or go with a Willi Castro instead? Other teams have issues too but those are the things that concern me off the top of my head. can't really rank which one is the worst worry. Maybe Cade, but I think he'd only impact 5 innings of the WC round even if healthy
  18. Am I missing something with Wicks? I know he's been solid at Triple A but has pitched in 1 MLB game in the last month and has a 7.94 ERA with the Cubs this year. He might have figured some stuff out and I've always believed he could end up a quality rotation arm but he doesn't have enough of a track record this season at the major league level to go ahead of Shota, Boyd, Taillon, Assad and Rea in terms of starting a playoff game, much less an elimination game.
  19. Well if they are spending the time and energy of getting an MRI, I don't think it's ever completely precautionary. They suspected something could be wrong so they decided to do more testing.
  20. The Guardians are about to go 17-2 in their last 19. What a wild year in baseball
