  1. He has been awful but from what I've seen his peripherals haven't changed that much. Also Wrigley basically plays like Petco these days.
  2. Plus I'm assuming you want to save Soroka for potential multiple innings later in the game.
  3. Repeat of yesterday. Busch with a long fly out, Nico with a single
  4. Stupid camera angle...for a half second I was tricked into thinking it might have a chance.
  5. Yeah thats what I was just saying. Ultimately, Craig is smarter at baseball than us and has access to more data that goes way beyond "those guys faced him yesterday, bad idea" so I'll trust it was the right call.
  6. I'm fine with the opener. A little concerned that he chose a guy who Tatis and Arraez both got to see 22 hours ago.
  7. Padres bats definitely look livelier today. Even foul offs are being hit well
  8. It's interesting to see the Cubs standing in the national hierarchy after winning the title. I feel like we almost always had prime time prior to winning the title. We're probably still highly regarded but a level down from the Yankees, Dodgers, Mets, Red Sox.
  9. It's a work trip dammit. I mean there are worse places to go on a work trip but if the Cubs advance there are gonna be some rough nights unless they are all day games.
  10. Also there's this. I'm on a flight to Europe that leaves at 4:30 on Saturday, so kind of hoping the Yankees pull it out...
  11. That's a lot of scenarios. To boil it down here are the scenarios where a Game 3 starts after 4pm CT: 1. Red Sox over Yankees, everything else goes to Game 3 2. Dodgers over Reds, everything else goes to Game 3 3. Red Sox ver Yankees, Dodgers over Reds, Guardians over Tigers 4. All other series end except Cubs/Padres
  12. Giving up an out to move a runner is almost always a net loss. You are cutting your chances to score before the inning even starts. The numbers do not lie. In 1998 there were around 1,700 sacrifice bunts across the league. By 2019 that number dropped under 800. Position players are bunting even less. Managers learned it rarely increases win expectancy. If bunting really worked, teams would still do it all the time. They do not. It only makes sense in very rare situations like a tie game in the ninth with a weak hitter up. Outside of that, modern baseball proves giving away outs is a mistake.
  13. To be fair, I think you lost because people thought it would be funny if the person who spent all this time putting together a 64 poster tournament would lose in the first round. We were a mean bunch back then. We still are now, but back then too
  14. You also created the tournament which made it even funnier. But I do think that was part of the reason why you lost. I think I lost to raw in the Sweet 16
  15. Yep. Our last few playoff wins as a city: -Bulls win Game 2 against Bucks, get blown out the next 3 games to end season -Sox won 2 games in series they lost -Blackhawks won while down 0-3 in a playoff series they never would have played in if it wasn't for a global pandemic -Cubs scratched across a win against the Dodgers while being down 0-3 and then got blown out the next night to end the season
  16. So crazy to me that Seiya had 2 HRs from mid-July to late September and then all the sudden has 6 in his last 5 games. I’m down with it!
  17. It will absolutely be changed to a night game if it’s the only Game 3. At least that’s how they’ve done it the previous 2 years. I would say the only way it stays at 2pm is if 3 or 4 of the series go to a deciding game.
  18. It had been 1,259 days since the last "Big 5" Chicago playoff victory
  19. Very interested to see who is starting tomorrow now that we won. Do we give Shota the bulk of the innings knowing that he has the highest ceiling and we have at least a little buffer if he gets blown up (but should still treat it like our backs are to the wall). Or do we patch together a bullpen game and risk being down a couple arms in Game 3 if we don't win? I think opener + Shota is the best option. The other thing is, if it goes 3 games and we start Taillon on Thursday, you are looking at Rea likely starting Game 1 of the NLDS against his former team.
