  1. Yeah if I recall correctly it’s usually when he goes away from the fastball with 2 strikes when he’s had trouble
  2. Same. He will never get a fly ball the rest of his Cubs career that I’m comfortable with him catching.
  3. I swear a majority of the hits Palencia gives up come with 2 strikes. With his stuff he shouldn’t be having trouble finishing hitters as much as he does
  4. And .161 against Thielbar. If the top of their order wasn’t coming up for the 3rd time the next inning I’d be ok with him taking that inning but he was only going to go 1 additional inning max. In that case you might as well give yourself a marginal advantage
  5. It’s like blackjack, you can’t assure yourself of the outcome, all you can do is play the percentages (monty burns reference) and hope it plays out in your favor. Obviously it’s a bit more complex than that like the fact that Thielbar didn’t get through the inning, but they still have the arms to get them through the game and then some
  6. 2 of their 3 hits have dribbled through the exact same freaking spot
  7. But either way he’s almost certainly not going to be allowed to face the top of the order again. The Cubs have Soroka who can give them multiple innings today, Pomeranz as another lefty option. The pen should mostly be in good shape. No need to take chances with a 2-0 lead 5th - Thielbar 6th - Soroka 7th - Pomeranz (if lefties line up) 8th - Palencia 9th - Keller Civale, Rogers, possibly Rea would also be available. Kittredge is the only guy you want to hold back unless you absolutely have to.
  8. I have a feeling that was Taillons last pitch with 3 lefties coming up. Cubs should be ok on pen arms and even have a LTOGY (lefty three out guy) in Pomeranz for later in the game. Id be fine if Taillon started the inning too
  9. When he's on his really good. Consistency and the HR ball on occasion have been his issues. But if you look at his game log, he really only has 4 poor starts this year out of 23, and 2 of them came immediately before he missed a month with an injury so its possible that played into the poor starts. Also a 3rd was his first start of the season.
  10. Ugh I just got a notification on my phone to buy Brewers-Cubs tickets in 2 days. Don't do that during the deciding game of the previous round lol
  11. Picture is not conclusive, I believe he just needs to start his windup before it hits 0
  12. What was the IF alignment for Shaw's AB? that might have gotten through with 0 outs if the IF was playing in.
  13. If the Cubs end up losing that liner down the RF line is going to haunt me. I thought that was going to be fair off the bat and clear the bases.
  14. That was hit so slow I thought Busch could beat it out but it wasn't even really close
  15. Huge walk! Would be funny if this was like that Cardinals Braves game 5 where the Cardinals scored so many runs all the drama was gone
  16. Even though the Cubs get 1, if the Padres get out of this down 1-0 it will be a huge momentum boost for them.
  17. Estrada is in the 98th percentile of pitchers for K rate. Swanson is big here because I have no idea what Shaw is going to do at this point.
  18. If it was still 2nd and 3rd and it wasn't Tucker on 3rd I'd almost consider a squeeze lol
  19. Well at least he's coming up with 0 outs. He needs a red light until he gets a strike.
  20. Kelly is the key at bat since we have no idea what PCA will give us
