  1. I wouldn't go that far, yet. Well, they are. I've been saying that for awhile. They have an awesome leadoff man that should have a .400 OBP, 30 SB and 15-20 HRs at the end of the year. They have two hitters that will hit 40-50 HRs this year at 3 and 4. They have Corey Hart who will probably be a 20-20 guy with good OBP. Their only weak spot on offense is catcher, and Kendall looks comfortable hitting behind the pitcher. As far as their pitching, ours might be slightly better right now, but their ceiling is much higher. I'd take Sheets, Gallardo, Suppan, Parra, Villenueva over our mess any day. Sheets and Z are about even. Sheets is probably better when healthy, Z tends to be erratic. Our bullpen is better, but not by as much as last yaer, and their defense is better by moving Braun to LF. Not on par with ours, but again not a huge disparity as last year. Oh and in 23 games, they will get a very good 30 HR potential hitter back into their lineup. Injuries are the only things that will slow Milwaukee down this year. if Rickie Weeks ends up with a .400 OBP i'll stop watching baseball Well he had a .422 OBP and 47 walks in the second half last year. 47 walks would be 3rd on the Cubs for all of 2007. Oh and for 3 weeks in the second half, Weeks was in AAA. So he basically drew enough walks in 2 months of the season to finish 3rd on the Cubs for all of 2007. The guy can get on base.

  3. So is Sup or Sheets going to start the All Star game in July?
  4. I agree with this. I could have told you that 3 days ago.
  5. This season is a disaster. I don't think I can watch any games anymore. I guess I'm going to look forward to the start of training camp. Oh wait the Bears have no receivers. Hopefully the Bulls will fire Boylan and start over so I can enjoy sports again. BTW, most of this was sarcasm
  6. LOL! Hart stole second AND third on our defensive upgrade of a catcher who doesn't have a hit this season yet?
  7. The key is. If this continues like this, Lou will make changes.
  8. I know its only two games, but I think I've seen enough bad baseball to determine that Lou needs to fire this team up.
  9. We're fighting the Giants for offensive futility. Houston has 1 run in 18 innings. Against Petco and Peavy/Young. We've gotten shut down by Sheets, Mota, Riske, Torres and Suppan
  10. Kendall's managed to get on base 2 more times than Theriot, Soriano, Ramirez, DeRosa, Soto, Ward, Zambrano, Fontenot combined so far.
  11. Must be that unsure footing thing again... Nope, its because Brian Roberts isn't on the team.
  12. Innings we've scored in: 1 Innings we've gotten shut out: 11
  13. Did he just stand there between first and second like an idiot?
  14. Feels like the playoffs again Mark!
  15. The best part about Year 2 of Lou is, we know his tendencies better. There is no way he sticks with this 1-2 for very long. He'll make a change.
  16. Nice! And if the Cubs had a capable 1-2 we'd be tied again.
  17. What a surprise, Patterson and Neifi get out. Oh sorry, Theriot and Soriano.
  18. My Rickie Weeks as a sleeper pick choice is doing well .500 OBP/1.000 SLG so far this year
  19. I take both sides. While one "Post-Game Thread" would reduce clutter, I don't want to discuss 18 different topics in one cluttered thread.
  20. Cubs' lineup per ESPN 1000: theriot soriano lee ramirez fukudome derosa soto pie lily Same as opening day. How much longer will this theriot/soriano disaster go on? At this point I'm rooting for Reed Johnson to start over Pie just so that the lineup doesn't suck like this.
  21. Can't do it....I work in an office with a large number of Cubs fans. Last year I tried blocking out the games a couple of times, and every time it was ruined by someone screaming "ARAMIS HOME RUN!!!" or something like that. There is no way I'd be able to keep the outcome of the game a secret in my office. well how are they watching the game but not you? They're not, their following the games on Sportsline or MLB.com. The point is, if I DVR the game, I am going to want to watch it without knowing the final outcome. It's impossible to do so at my office.

  23. Not that I don't agree with you, but my how things have changed over the past few years.
  24. Poor you Roast. Because it's an April home series, I am not going to be able to watch one minute of the games Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Monday. Our first night game of the season isn't until next Wednesday. Ever since I graduated college and started a job, I've been in favor of more night games at Wrigley.
  25. Why does it feel like 3 offseasons ago when we were supposedly going to trade for Crawford? Wasn't that just this past offseason?
