    What's the scouting report on Haren. I am embarassed to admit I haven't watched him pitch a lot. Does he have a sinker or splitter because he seems to get a lot of gb outs?

    OK, so this is weird. My friend recently went to Costa Rica for 3 weeks. When he left the Cubs were 1-3, while he was gone they went 13-4, and since he's been back, they've gone 5-8. Recently, we've been joking about telling him to leave the country again. But lately, its gotten worse. When he watches the Cubs, they do horrible. When he doesn't watch them they usually win. In fact, the last 3 Cubs games he's watched, they've won. The others, they've lost. But its even getting worse than that. On Wednesday, he turned on the game in the bottom of the second....first pitch he saw... HR. Then...another HR. 2 more to follow. He turned off the game right after that, but to no avail. Today, this is the following online exchange we had: UMfan83: not watching the cubs game? Friend: no Friend: how are they doing UMfan83: must be why they have retired the first 2 batters without incident Friend: woohoo! Friend: ok im turning the game on Friend: just as a test Friend: WTF Friend: WTF Friend: ARE U ****** KIDDING Friend: THE FIRST PITCH I SEE, HOME RUN Friend: THIS IS SCARY Friend: can you ****** believe that? Friend: the damage is done UMfan83: i hate you Friend: this is the SECOND time that has happened Friend: i turn it on, first pitch homerun So umm...sorry about my friends guys...

    Looking at the DBacks lineup, only 2 regulars are hitting over .275.

    Oh darn, you mean I don't get to watch him K 3 times today? Nope. Instead you get to watch Reed Johnson put the lightly put the ball in play over and over again... maybe going 1-4 (a single, of course, as Johnson has no power) in the process. I've ripped on Pie a bit this year, but geez. He only has two 3 K games in his entire career.

    I never really understood why some guys have drastic home/road splits. It's easier to hit when everyone is chanting your last name every time you come up to hit?

    I'm about 40% worried. I can't foresee the pitching staff being this good all year long, but I think their offense is semi-legit.

    I do. The only 3 pitchers that I guarantee a loss for my team are Webb, Peavy and Santana. Well now Volquez. I still can't believe we beat Webb last year and played him close in the playoffs (although we only got 1 run on him).

    Again, he would be 72 on election day if elected (Regan was 69). The guy is old.

    I assumed the question spoke for itself. In other words, will he be president for the entire term or will something, anything, prevent that from happening. It can be morbid, but it's not absurd. World leaders not lasting their entire term can happen. And more than one US president has failed to fill out his term. I agree its not absurd. But why isn't there a poll asking if John McCain would make it all 4 years? He's not black (and I'm assuming this was the impetus for the discussion) , but he's pretty damn old. I don't think you really needed to ask the question. A first-time black president is unique. An old guy is not. Plus, if Barack gets the nomination, he's also most likely to win. Obama has some Kennedy/MLK qualities to him, and we all know those histories. It's a legit issue. True, but McCain will be the oldest first time president if elected.

    ^ Great response Raw. Where I'm from, everyone goes out for St. Patty's day. Maybe the day before Thanksgiving would be a good day too. It's the supposed "most participated party day of the year"
