  1. So... Single Single Lineout Flyout Home Run Double Double Lineout Ewww
  2. Have you collected your award for "Most optimistic poster" yet? LittleLordFontenot already won that sorry.
  3. Shouldn't that mean he should be sent down to AA, since the AAA lineup is owning him?
  4. Bah, Lilly has been a big disappointment so far this year.
  5. The 1985 Cubs were 35-19 at this point and finished 77-84. The 1969 Cubs were 37-17 at this point and finished 92-70. The 1999 Cubs were 32-23 and finished 67-95
  6. so playing those same percentages, the Cubs would go 20-5 vs. the NL West and Pittsburgh and 36-47 against everyone else Plus 33-21 so far That equals a 89-73. I guess I would take it :)
  7. Just wanted to point out that the 1977 Cubs were 47-22 on June 28th and finished the season 81-81. These threads are easy to bump :)
  8. Wow this might be one of the most lopsided polls in NSBB history.
  9. I don't think the Cubs win today unless a long rain delay knocks the starters out of this one. Cook owns us, and it looks like the Rockies have had a good run against Lilly. That said, this team is surprising me every day.
  10. I don't mind it provided they take it easy on him the next 1-2 starts. He's been doing this for years, and he turns 27 on Sunday. I've read here and in other places that high PC's are typically a bigger thing for younger pitchers. Z is now settling into the prime of his career and has been up in the PAP standings for 5 years now. I'm not saying they should just let him loose and throw 130 pitches every start, but a couple times a year, provided they are taking care of him afterwards is not a huge deal.
  11. To anyone who wants to be depressed about this hiring, read John Hollinger's article on ESPN.com about it.
  12. YAY!!!!!!!!!!! IM SO PUMPED! It's been a rare occurrence this season. :( Yeah the Cubs farm is depressing this year, to all those who don't follow it closely.
  13. I'm pretty sure the last couple of weeks is the fluke. I hope so....but some of these players don't have the track record of being high OBP guys. DeRosa, Cedeno, Theriot and Ramirez aren't .380-.400 OBP guys in their careers Fukudome and Soto are too inexperienced at MLB to know whether their OBPs are flukes, but I have noticed Soto being less selective lately and his OBP has fallen a bit (independant of his BA) Lee is actually below his usual OBP level, and as we all know Soriano doesn't have the best OBP skills.
  14. Again, is anyone alarmed that the Cubs walk rate has dropped quite a bit in the past couple of weeks? This was supposed to be the reason why our offense was doing so well. Was it a fluke?
  15. The good news: The Rays are losing, we could have sole possession of the best record in baseball by the end of the night. The bad news: The stupid White Sox are the ones beating them.
  16. What is wrong with our IF defense the last few games. Theriot, DeRosa, Cedeno.... Lee saves Marquis again.
  17. Time to bring in Marmol? Just kidding...
  18. Marquis is so bad. I guess we just have to accept him as the 5.00 ERA innings eating 5th starter he is.
  19. I think this sentiment is overrated .179/.210/.256 .139/.151/.222 .167/.250/.278 Last 3 years.
  20. That was the worst sac bunt attempt I've ever seen geez.
  21. How does that projec for the 10th vs. Atl? There is an off day on the 9th. Just curious as I am going to be there. My guess would be Lilly. There is an offday on the 9th, so they could skip him, but obviously there would be no reason to. 29 - Marquis, 30 - Lilly, 31 - Demp, 1 - Gallagher, 2 - Zambrano, 3 - Marquis, 4 - Lilly, 5 - Demp, 6 - Gallagher, 7 - Zambrano, 8 - Marquis, 9 - Off, 10 - Lilly
  22. Thats a good name that I hadn't thought of. That said, Dodgers will do everything it takes to win right now. They are good enough to stay within like 3-4 games of first place until the deadline. If that's the case, they won't sell.
  23. Soto will have a 3 day rest considering the Cubs have a day off after the all star break. The 4th day, he'll squat for 4 innings and get 2 ABs. I don't see what the big deal is.
