  1. We do need it with the way you've been hitting lately Jim :)
  2. I'm probably jinxing us, but only Bronson Arroyo is between us and a sweep!
  3. That's not a bad idea at all. He and ward are basically the same player; can't really play defense a lick but can mash a ball every now and then. I doubt it will happen though, Lou loves him some versatility and 13 pitchers (to only use 9). He's not really a counterpart to Ward though. Although Ward is a lefty and Dubois a righty, both are absolutely horrible against lefties and mash righties.
  4. I know that they said that they planned on Murton and Patterson to head to AAA.
  5. Exactly, and we at least give Marshall the opportunity to show that his start in STL was for real.
  6. Seriously, Marquis is pitching tomorrow we need to win today.
  7. Who said that? BTW, ASB starts Monday. Corey was talking about the POST-ASG rotation in the booth. He'll be starting the Monday after in Arizona. I had a brain fart and thought he meant THIS monday. That's good. Seriously give him all the rest he needs.
  8. Which Monday?? Is he pitching the home run derby?
  9. When did we get Doobs back? Hes been back for a while now. I've always said we could use a RH power threat off the bench.... Edit: Whoops nevermind, for some reason he hits lefties as well as Jim Edmonds. I forgot about that.
  10. Unless they want to have a race to see which one of our injury riddled aces can get hurt first.
  11. Delayed response. Sounds like the kinda stuff Jim Hendry used to say about Prior and Wood back in the day.
  12. Edmonds has looked pretty bad the last week or so.
  13. Lee hasn't Leebombed one in weeks! Now would be perfect timing but I don't see it. Lee's HR totals by month: April 8 May 5 June 2 July 0 He's due for a streak though. Too good not to.
  14. Honestly, why even pitch him before the break? Have Zambrano, Lilly, Marquis, Marshall and Dempster finish off the homestand, enjoy a 4 day All Star break, and have him pitch the second game, after Zambrano post ASB. This gives his arm a 12 day rest in between game action, which is almost like a 15 day DL stint. We, unlike the Brewers, are not in a position of having to make games up in the standings at this point. I'm not saying we've come anywhere close to locking up a playoff spot or anything, but we should use this lead to our advantage and keep our new gun fresh before October.
  15. Don't like any of them.
  16. As I said in the Harden thread in Transactions: I've got a hardon for Harden! My fantasy team littered with Cubs fans have already used those 2 names
  17. He doesn't even know his own power!
  18. I heard that this trade was actually made in February but they didn't announce it because they didn't want to overshadow baseball's first half of the season
  19. I won't even post a source.... ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) Riiiiiiiiiiiiight. Was it BigBird or Peace that let you in on that? Nah, bigbird or peace would have been wrong. :P Major props to you my good friend :)
  20. When was the last time the Cubs swept the Reds? I bet it has been awhile. Reds lineup: Hairston SS Bruce CF Griffey RF Phillips 2B Dunn LF Keppinger 3B Votto 1B Bako C Harang P May 28-30th, 2001....we beat them 6 times in an 8 game span (6-0) The July 2004 thing was a 2 game series. So yeah, it's be a long time. This Cubs team is really good, but there have been a lot worse Reds teams (umm, last years) that managed not to be swept by the Cubs. Has nothing to do with this years team or this particular series. I like the pitching matchups this series, and the fact that we are 33-10 at home this year means we should win 2/3 if not sweet.
