Random observation but Seiya Suzuki has very quietly reached 3.8 bWAR this season. If the season ended today it would be his highest bWAR season as a Cub. 2022 - 1.8 2023 - 3.2 2024 - 3.5 2025 - 2.6 (weighed down a bit by mostly being DH) 2026 - 3.8 Obviously WAR can go up and down but his current pace is a 5.6 bWAR season. Pretty nice contract year for him if he can keep it up and stay healthy. -
I really don't think we talk enough about how painful that WS loss was. There were like 10 things where if just 1 went the Blue Jays way they are the WS Champions. A couple of the plays were by literal inches. Insane.

Still wondering why PCA wanted the HBP. I guess even though he's pretty elite against LHP too, maybe the thought is it puts the bat in Seiya's hands? Otherwise, if PCA gets out, they walk Seiya and have Busch against a lefty with Kelly the lead runner? I don't think thats a good argument to want to take the bat out of PCA's hands though. He's literally your best player and hitter.

I'd say ok, but he just needed to make contact and the frustration is also largely about failing in those situations all season (Cubs have the 28th best conversion % in those situations)

Dammit Dansby. I hate runner on 3rd with less than 2 out situations. The Cubs conditioned me to hate them.

Ferguson was optioned so he's not even on the roster, really just Zeferjahn and Webb who are down today (and yes both would be available if Thielbar didn't suck yesterday). Obviously Rollison and Civale pitched today. That leaves the options as Garrett, Rea, Thornton and Thielbar.

Kinda what hes been doing his entire career really. He goes on 6-8 week slumps and then crushes everything in sight for a couple of weeks before slowly dipping back into slump mode. Ultimately his numbers turn out looking good, but he's got some work to do for that to be true this year.
