  1. Anyone see this non-update update from Rosenthal?
  2. On two drives Rex was 11 for 13 for ~ 125 yards. The rest of the day, he was 9 for 24 with 1 INT for ~50 yards. I wonder. :-k It's funny. I'm in Mexico right now, but luckily Fox Sports Mexico showed the game, so I watched the first TD drive where he looked good, then went out to the beach for the next 2 hours. I then came back and watched the last 3 Bears drives where they missed a FG, scored a TD, and then turned it over on downs. I pretty much only watched good Rex today.
  3. What were your guys thoughts on Grossman? Granted he was rushed a lot, but I saw nothing out of him that gave me any hope he could be a starting QB for the Bears. Today's game validates the Kyle Orton love. He is a good QB.
  4. I'm actually not mad about this game. With Orton we would have won. Without, it was essentially a tossup. We shutdown one of the best rushing teams in football in remarkable fashion. Grossman was pretty awful and yet we were in the game at the end. We won't do anything this season with this pass rush. Also, the Vikings won, which is awesome because we've already beaten them once meaning we for now hold the tiebreaker over them, and when we play them in 3 weeks Orton will probably be back. Tennessee is not a 9-0 team, but they are pretty good. They do a lot of little things well. Oh well, this is the first week I can say that we deserve to lose. No double digit 4th quarter leads blown, no 11 second FG drives given up. Of course we could have won but oh well.
  5. What a nerd. He was probably saying how stupid it would be to give up our prized Bobby Hill in a trade for Aram.
  6. That clinches it. Meph, please rename this the "2008 Brian Roberts Memorial Obessed Over Single Player Offseason Thread"
  7. If the Cubs can pull off a trade for Peavy, 4 months after pulling off a trade for Harden, both times after being told there was no way we had the players to get it done, it definitely goes to show you there you will always have the players needed to get it done, as long as you are willing to part. I still think the Padres could care less about our prospects and are trying to drive up the price of the Braves offer.
  8. I have a feeling all this rumored interest is a negotiating ploy for Dempster first, and a fallback option second.
  9. I bet Hendry's thought is that with Dempster as our "5th starter" with bullpen experience, he would be very easy to convert to the bullpen during the playoffs, giving the team Peavy, Harden, Z, Lilly (need a lefty in there) and then Dempster as one of the setup guys. I still think its stupid to sign Dempster at the expense of Wood. Our bullpen could be very bad next year.
  10. Olsen would be nice. He is a Cubs fan afterall

  12. The fact that after all this time & effort we're back to "a work in progress" is endlessly frustrating to me. What we're saying is that all these years since 1998 have been one big fat stinking failure. Good job Bulls. Let's start another 10 year cycle of "rebuilding" only to find that our current crop of youngsters blossom on other teams while we bring up another group of draft picks once again. And round & round we go. Seriously. None of you share my frustration on this? This is all just great with all of you? I can't believe that. Mistakes were made in the past for sure. What can we do but look to the future. I firmly believe we have our superstar (Rose) and key role players (Hinrich, Deng, Thomas). We need our #2 guy, and a low post threat, but we are heading in the right direction, and knowing the past is the past, I figure its time to give these guys time to prosper. If we didn't win the lotto and draft Rose, then I'm with you. But that's key. We finally have something to build around.
  13. ](*,) It's kinda funny that the last 3 years Greg Maddux hasn't been a Cub, they have made the playoffs.
  14. Seasons: Braves: 11 Cubs: 9 1/2 Playoff Appearances: Braves: 11 Cubs: 1 World Series Appearances: Braves: 3 (won 1) Cubs: 0 Cy Youngs: Braves: 3 Cubs: 1 I think the answer is obvious.
  15. I doubt it. The league he is playing in is competitive, and they will not hesitate to bench him if he's not going to produce for them.
  16. Are you putting Pedro Martinez in his era or just behind it? Pedro was the more dominating pitcher at his peak (arguably...you can make an argument that he wasnt), but its hard to discredit Maddux's consistency. Plus Maddux's peak years were pretty dominating and can only be matched by Pedro.
  17. I agree...either him or Amaury Telemaco
  18. Yeah Glavine and Smoltz should be forced to retire too. It's only right. Kinda like how in Egyptian times, when a pharaoh died, the wife was burried with him - alive or not.
  19. Did anyone see this Sun Times article? Seems like they are expecting Orton's recovery time to be shorter than 4 weeks: http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/bears/1258196,CST-SPT-bear04.article
  20. I cannot envision a Bears blowout loss until the Bears actually play a game where they lose badly. You can still make an extremely easy case that the Bears should have won every game they've played this year. Imagine if it was the 8-0 Bears facing the 8-0 Titans this week?
  21. I wouldn't have guessed Jimbo as a good golfer. Those names the Cubs are offering are garbage
  22. Did anyone else post this regarding Winter Classic Tickets for the General Public:
  23. Wait, I thought Rich Hill was untouchable. Next we'll hear that Sam Fuld has been offered. Hahaha yeah right.
  24. Actually, since the mods don't seem to want a "Other Chicago Sports" forum, thats not a half bad idea.
  25. Still wear my Cubs hat. It's tough but you have to realize being a fan of a team goes beyond winning. It's a commitment that you keep through thick and thin.
