but it doesn't feel like 3.77, whatever that's supposed to mean. Probably because we aren't scoring as many runs as last year. I have no way to prove this, but I would bet that a lot of that 4.16 was given up in mop up work with leads over 3 runs. How many leads over 3 runs have we had this year...2? -
I'm sure they are saying the same thing about the successes of Soto, Dempster, Marmol, Fontenot and Theriot. Marmol and Soto were top 10 prospects in the Cubs system at one time, Soto was even a top 75 prospect in all of baseball going into last season. Before his last year in the minors, Soto wasn't anything more than a middling prospect in the Cubs org projected to be a backup catcher in the bigs. The fact that all the sudden he had a breakout year at age 25, made the majors and won ROY still irks some Cards fans. No doubt Marmol was a top 10 prospect, but the way he took over the setup role and became arguably the best setup guy in baseball also irks Cards fans.

PJ Walters, Mitchell Boggs, Braden Looper, Todd Wellemeyer, it doesn't matter who it is. Maybe they should give Greg Paulus a start and see what happens.

Anyone know if that's good? Seems kinda weird that there's only been one multiple RBI at bat this year with the bases loaded.

I know, it seems like whenever we get the bases loaded, we either get way too patient and take too many hittable pitches trying to draw a walk, or we tighten up and expand our strike zone trying to get anything in the air to drive in a run. It's like we lose the approach that got us the bases loaded in the first place.

At least we got 1 this time... I didn't want to have to talk about how this is the 5th time this year in 10 games where we had a runner on third and 0 outs and didn't score a run.

That's Z's first regular season walk since 2006. He did take one in Game 2 of the NLDS last year.

Aren't catchers a worry when they are in their early 30s and have a lot of catching innings in their knees? Soto is still only what 26?
