    2 days ago I could have taken 3 hits of acid and not be able to imagine in my mind a hit with RISP by the Cubs. Today we just completed our second 4+ run comeback with a 2 out single with RISP. Wow

    I guess they'll have to rally in the 9th then For a split second I thought that ball was driven on a better line than that and was going to drop. I feel like whenever teams get this far they don't just go quietly. 3-4-5 up in the 9th and if any team knows how Wood will approach this situation its these guys. Here comes the awkwardness or cheering against Wood.

    This would just make it more painful for Wood to get a 1 run save vs. us. But maybe it won't be. Some things are very predictable in baseball. A struggling lefty down 2-0 in the count, pretty much has to throw a FB in the strike zone to an emerging Soriano. Good things are pretty likely to happen in that situation.

    I just want to say that I still don't like Edmonds but I learned to get over it and even like him. It's hard watching this happily know that just 2 weeks over it would end in horrible disappointment.

    How has the game not been called yet? It's literally been pouring all day and I don't think it's supposed to get better.

    That's pretty much impossible at this point. Obviously its pretty unlikely if they are just not talking to other bidders, but if Ricketts does indeed buy the team (I still think this is the overwhelming case...I think I remember reading that Ricketts had a much better offer than the other bidders, so they aren't going to get nearly as much money from the other bidders), they seem to be so far apart that it doesn't seem likely that either side is going to concede in time to get the owners to approve and allow Ricketts to take over, run the numbers, give a new budget to Hendry and have him negotiate a trade or trades in what 5 weeks?

    Not exactly a bold statement, but I think it's safe to say the 2002 World Cup was a peak in USMNT history and not a stepping stone to better things. We will never be organized enough or develop enough talent to be amongst the top few teams in the world. I can't see us ever competing for championships in international tournaments that involve European and South American teams. Hopefully I'm wrong though...the country certainly has a large enough population to produce professional soccer players from the scraps left by baseball, football, basketball and hockey.
