  1. Was it? Hm. I guess the blood pouring from my eyes distracted me. I could have sworn it was his throwing arm he was holding.
  2. Like I said in the game thread, the worst case scenario is that its career altering injury. The most popular example is Scott Rolen of course. He was never the same after his torn labrum and lost significant power.
  3. I don't know...we'll hear what the prognosis is soon, but if its significant, it might just not be our year. Aramis is probably the most important piece on the team and its difficult to see how they can win the division without him.
  4. Man, forget the season, this could be a career changing injury. Scott Rolen anyone?
  5. More on this later. Lemme just say it didn't look good at all.
  6. Put Theriot, Johnson and Freel on the field at the same time and watch the grit fly. Meph would approve of this trade.
  7. So we traded a guy whose 3-14 for one whose 2-15 but plays better IF defense?
  8. Someone in the game thread tonight posted a report that he heard that said that Soto is more hurt than the Cubs are letting on, and to not expect 2008 numbers from him this year at all. At this point, I'm not expecting anything remotely close. I'd be happy with .260/.330/.450 at this point. He's still a pretty good catcher behind the plate. People have to remember that after May 18th of last year, his stat line for the rest of the year was .269/.336/.459/.795. This is more likely the type of pro Geovany Soto will be, not the Geo that lit up the NL in April 2008 before pitchers figured out how to pitch him.
  9. Have you been to LA since they got Manny? He is like a living legand in LA right now. I think he's bigger than Kobe in that town right now.
  10. He said his 2 favorite teams were the Canucks and Blackhawks, and that he is more of a Canucks fan (grew up rooting for them), but I think the Hawks inclusion is more of a PC thing for him. I'm sure he likes them, but they aren't in the same stratosphere as Vancouver for him.

  12. With a +6 run differential so far they're not a 90 win team. I wouldn't look at run differential until at least 50 games into the season. That's just me though. Besides, 7 games ago, the differential was -7. So in a 7 game span we've outscored our opponents by 13 runs.
  13. El Cab, I've been pretty busy lately so haven't had tons of time to watch highlight shows, but I see the Brewers are on quite a run right now. What about the team is working so well right now? Is the offense clicking, the starting pitching stepping up, or a little of both? Should be an entertaining series. The Cubs probably had the upperhand in all 3 pitching matchups the first series, and now the Brewers might have the upperhand in all 3 matchups this series. The Brewers starters are I belive 2nd in the NL in Quality Starts (For whatever you take QS for). Hoffman has not given up a run yet as a Brewer and is 4/4 in save opp. But the offense has been pretty good as well.. Weeks is hitting well, Braun is hitting well, Fielder is pretty good, Cameron is OPSing over 1.000. Hardy has started out cold is starting to turn it around having a good week. We are cashing in with RISP. And we are finding ways to win close games (Again for whatever you take that worth). And it also helps that we have played the Pirates 5 times recently. Basically are starters are doing a good job of keeping us in the game. Bush is 4/5 this year in QS. He always has one blow up inning (Last Sunday he gave up 3 solo shots in the 8th). EDIT: Oh and Cameron has been playing un-real defense this year (not trying to just talk him up, obviously he is a good defender) Thanks...so it seems like it's a little of everything, which is good news for you guys. I was thinking that if it was just the offense that was carrying the team, the winning streak might be a bit fluky because the Brewers offense tends to be a bit streaky. I didn't expect the Brewers to be a playoff team, but I definitely thought they'd be better than a lot of people were projecting for them.
  14. I might have missed a page or 2 of this thread at some point...but did we talk about this picture yet? http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/1212/img2083p.jpg A bunch of Canucks players, in Cubs gear at the game the other night?

  16. For all the panic and worry we saw here about 10 days ago, the Cubs now have the 3rd best record in the NL, and the 6th best record in baseball and are on pace for a 93-69 season.
  17. I'm rooting for Boston to not win a championship in every sport every year so I could care less if they are an original 6 team. The only team I want to lose more than the Blackhawks opponent and Detroit is Boston. I swear Boston sports fans around the age of like 15 must think winning championships is cool but no big deal.
  18. Fox looked awful tonight, and long term doesn't look like the answer at all, unless the question is "How can the Cubs bullpen get even worse?", but geez give the guy more than one game to prove he belongs. Just don't put him in during close games.
  19. And the Cubs pull into the Wild Card lead by 1/2 game.
  20. Thank God, I didn't want to see Carlos Lee up as the tying run.
  21. Imagine what the multiple OT games feel like. by mid second OT, you almost don't care. you're just completely fried It takes me until the third, but there is definitely a point where you don't even care who wins, you just want it to be over. And it's such a weird feeling when it ends. You've been watching for 4 hours, you've been waiting and waiting for a goal to happen for so long that you start thinking that its never going to happen, and then BAM! it happens.
  22. Ehh, the road really hasn't been a problem for us this year. And frankly they were playing to win 1-0 for pretty much the entire game except for over time. That's definitely the downside of playing that style of hockey. Did they really think they would shut down Chicago's offense for 60 minutes? OK they almost did but still.
