  1. I think the Cubs have more important issues to deal with than Soto. Just keep putting him out there because if he gets benched thats the end of the Geovany Soto era and Koyie Hill isn't the long term answer.
  2. I was trying to stay calm and optimistic through the last rough patch, but I'm not seeing the optimism here. Does a contending team not have a RH batter off the bench who can hit for Hoffpauir? Does a winning team have to make their starter throw 130 pitches because there's no one else in the pen that the manager trusts?
  3. we also had 1st and 3rd with 0 out in the first inning and didn't score. Hah really? I was watching a movie so I didn't catch it. Well at least that you can attribute to facing a really good pitcher.
  4. Looks like Cincinnati is going to send us back to 4th place again.
  5. The second day in a row where we loaded the bases with 1 out in a 1 run game and didn't score. If you want to look at why we aren't winning as much this year, there is a reason. We seemed to always get those runs in last year. Bah, well we still have 6 more outs to work with today.
  6. Remember when Geo hit that 3 run homer against Milwaukee with 2 outs in the 9th last year? Yeah that was fun.
  7. I think that was the worst AB that I've seen all season by any Cub player. I don't know what it feels like to try to play baseball with Lee's injury, but I can't believe he couldn't play for 2 innings considering originally he was supposed to play today.
  8. I thought the awesome depth that Jim built for us this offseason was going to allow us to avoid these situations.
  9. You seriously can't take an important AB here Lee? Geez.
  10. I think we are the only fanbase in baseball that's petrified when their team loads the bases with less than 2 outs.
  11. let's get some positivity in here! Seasons not over guys. Aram could be back by late June. Hold the fort down until then and make your run.
  12. Yup. One way or the other, a righty was gone and a left-handed thumper was on his way. Fukudome and Fontenoy just aren't enough pop from the left side to face a bunch of stud righties in the playoffs. In hindsight, things should've been done differently (though plenty of us have been advocating Hoff over Dlee for some time now) but their plan to get some left-handed thump was spot-on. Here's the bad thing about that train of thought: The man signed to be the "left-handed thumper" doesn't really have a track record of playing a full season. 141 is the most he's ever played in one season. The Cubs already have a third baseman who misses time. And the man most capable of playing third or a corner OF spot is the one who was traded, and to top it off Derosa put up good numbers. I guess Hendry thought that Aaron Miles would somehow fill the Derosa role. Ryan Freel will now fill the DeRosa role. Also, the lefthanded thumper we got hits lefties better than righties.
  13. No it's not. That's the front shoulder at the plate. The throwing is a controlled motion you can work with a little bit less ability on. The front shoulder at the plate is something you just have to let rip, especially the way he swings. That's what killed Rolen. I'm reeeeeaaaaal worried at this point. Do you remember how long Rolen was out? And yeah the Scales slide was all kinds of awesome. Rolen was only out like 6 weeks originally, but he had to miss several more periods of time becuase of the same shoulder.
  14. You guys have made me feel better knowing that there are quite a few targets out there who can try to replace Aram. Assuming Bradley picks it up, we'd still have a fair shot at winning the division if we could get a 3B who gives us average D and a .800 OPS.
  15. That's 6 weeks minimum. But they can't know if there are any tears until they do an MRI.
  16. I was just gonna say it feels exactly like Lee. When most people get hurt, I always hold out hope that it can just be a day to day thing, but when Lee went down and now Aramis, I pretty much know its a significant injury and I just brace for the news.
  17. Yeesh. Rolen had a torn labrum and it completely changed his career. I think Hafner had a torn labrum too and he hasn't been at all the same since. The shoulder was probably the worst place he could have gotten hurt when it comes to damaging injuries.
  18. Aubrey Huff or Ty Wiggington? I know the O's just sent us a third baseman, but I figure they should be mathamatically eliminated by late next week, so maybe we have some of McPhails old guys that weve forgotten about that hed like back. I like those options, and we seem to make every other trade with Baltimore. I would say the odds we target one of those guys are decent.
  19. Mark DeRosa. sorry. The Indians are in last place... Lets give them their 3 guys back and they give us DeRo and we'll forget this ever happened. I'd feel ok with ARam being out 6 weeks if we still had DeRosa, assuming Bradley shows signs of life.
  20. Not really....I could be wrong but there aren't a lot of scenarios out there that don't lead to Aramis missing significant time. The only think we need to find out is if it's 6 weeks or season ending. Maybe someone has more insight but I've always assumed that there are not too many "day to day" shoulder injuries.
