  1. Yeah bring on a cold goalie in the middle of a critical game. It's not like our major issue with him is that he takes multiple starts in a row to get heated up
  2. May I ask why you are so fortunate? Go Rookie of the Year on them and nail a 98 mile per hour bullet in the strike zone and wait for your contract offer. In the event that you don't have the ability to throw 98 MPH, do what everyone else is saying.
  3. Sounds like double counting. I don't recall Soriano ever having "lazy baserunning" issues unless it was being slow out of the box thinking it's a HR. Yeah...I guess its one in the same...posing for HRs and then jogging out of the box thinking its a HR and only getting a single on an easy double. Whatever, I'm not ripping on the guy. I wish he didn't do those things but he does a lot of awesome things. But broadcasters rip him for doing all that stuff.
  4. It was really the effort that was poor about that play. Soriano kind jogged to the ball, fully expecting Kendall to stop at second, and didn't even turn to see if he would try for 3rd until he picked up the ball. By the time he turned around Kendall was already rounding second on his way to third. At the time, Kendall was on third with 0 outs, so easily in a position to score another run, although he didn't. That's what he got ripped so hard for. Not for bad defense, for lazy defense, just like he gets ripped on for lazy baserunning and posing on HRs...not a sign of lack of talent but things that can be rectified with proper effort.
  5. I can't imagine that anybody had them 32nd following the 05 season, but I suppose anything is possible. Maybe it was before 05. He definitely had them No. 32 preseason one year where they were good. I would've picked them pretty low, too. Maybe not 32nd with that defense, but the team was terrible in 04, so there wasn't much to go on there. And they were going into the season with a rookie Kyle Orton having beaten out Chad Hutchinson for the starting QB job. The 04 team was ravished with injuries especially defensively and it was the first year of implementing Lovie's cover 2 system. I expected the 05 team to he much improved with grossman healthy (at least we thought at the time) and an outside shot at competing for a wild card spot in a weaker NFC.
  6. I think El Cab's post was pointless (it might have been a ball due to camera angles, but it looked pretty good to me), but all the bickering about his pretty much non-comment is just random.
  7. I am already excited/nervous for the game. Thank God we have a team in Chicago that doesn't fall flat on its faces immediately when it gets to the playoffs.
  8. I think you need 10 years of MLB service time to get pension.
  9. Is he still dating Dusty Baker's daughter? If so he has a very easy way to get himself into more money. According to baseball reference, He made about 14 mil between '02-'08, so unless hes an idiot, he should be set in that department. Well after taxes its probably like 9,000,000 made. If he lives to 85 years old and hasn't spent a dime of that 9M to this point, he would have $160,000 to spend a year. A fairly modest lifestyle for someone who is currently a millionare. Do you think he has the money stuffed into a mattress? He's making interest on the cash, you can bet. I thought of that...but I also figured that he's spent a significant portion of his money already. The point was, $14 million isn't a crapload to last for a lifetime. Considering he likely hedged all his bets on baseball, these will probably be the last years of his life that he has a shot to make 500k-1M a year so might as well keep working at it and hope someone else gives him a shot.
  10. Hard to believe huh? 3-2 roadtrip Yeah from Cubs fans reactions you would think this team is 10-21 and in last place. Instead were 17-14, either 1.5 or 2.5 games out of first and only 1 game off our pace after 31 games last season. We've won 7 of our last 10 too...but I think the reason everyone feels deflated like we've just come off a long losing streak is losing Ramirez. Really took the wind out of everyone's sails.
  11. Sweet we salvaged a game. Depending on how the Reds do we could end up 1.5 games out of first after today (but alone in 4th place)
  12. Coming into the day, the Cubs pen led baseball in BBs with 61. The team with the least was Colorado with 27. Can you imagine what our record could be if we only walked 27 batters from the pen this year? Edit: I should also mention the Cubs are 24th in baseball in IP by the pen
  13. I got 120/122...I completely forgot about the state of Tennessee besides the Titans. The 2 teams I missed were the Memphis Grizzlies and the Nashville Predators.
  14. That sucks that we got Lincecum in a 2 game series vs. SF and Peavy in a 3 game series vs. SD.
  15. I haven't watched much Cubs baseball as of late. I hope you are correct though. First 24 PA: .095/.174/.095/.269 Last 52 PA: .250/.308/.333/.641 So I guess so.
  16. And the verdict is.....it was just a slump to start May for Fuku
  17. He's gonna give his 2006 season a run for its money if he stays healthy. *knocks on wood*
  18. Ryan Braun had a .285 Extra Base Batting Average (6 for 21) against lefties before that AB
  19. Marshall let him hit a double. Soriano let him hit a triple.

  21. When the Brewers are hitting well, it feels like they are impossible to beat. Kendall is the only easy out in the lineup and the rest of them can kill you any pitch.
  22. Great to see Weeks finally realizing his potential.
