  1. WOW, 4 consecutive shutouts IN A ROW ??? I wonder what those game threads were like. He's making fun of my redundancy
  2. Every team plays similar to this at some point in a season. Maybe not 3 runs in 5 games but just as irritating. Wow, 1st and 3rd 0 outs and we can't even get 1 of the runs home. What is the record for least runs scored by a team over a 5 game span? probably 0 No team has ever gotten shut out 5 consecutive games, but a team has gotten shut out 4 consecutive games 11 times.
  3. The 2007 Atlanta Braves scored just 1 run in a 5 game stretch from June 19 - June 24.
  4. The 1968 Chicago Cubs once scored only 2 runs in a 5 game stretch, including 4 consecutive shutouts in a row. But 1968 was a much different ERA for baseball with regards to hitting.

  6. Can someone look into the phenomenon that is the Chicago Cubs fake 9th inning rally? How many times this year have we seen the Cubs offense lifeless throughout the entire game and then the 9th inning comes around and all the sudden we finally get some people on base and a fake rally occurs. Why is this?
  7. Both would be really stupid moves. Perspective guys. You know, I thought "is this a knee-jerk reaction"? But we've been like this all year. In fact we've arguably been inconsistent like this since last year. Add some killer injuries on top of it, and you've got the problem we're experiencing now. We gotta make a change somewhere, even if its just to do it. Lou is stressing the right things and supposedly has a firm grasp on the clubhouse. He may make some head scratching decisions on the field from time to time but basically he turned a 66 win team into an 85 win team and then an 85 win team into a 97 win team. He has also become a semi-face of the franchise and is just as marketable to the team as most of the players. He's going nowhere. You can make a better case for Perry, but he is largely credited from turning one of the least patient teams in baseball into the most patient. And during his tenure we have seen mostly unheralded prospects come up and contribute to the club. I mean, I just don't see how they deserve to be fired less than 25% into the season. Given what they've done the last 2 seasons, and given the turnover between last year and this year, the turmoil that has surrounded this season so far, and the injuries, I think they deserve the benefit of the doubt for at least a little while. Also, while firing people can give the team a spark and get them to step up and play better, they could also start to feel the pressure and play tightly. We all remember how the Cubs did the last 2 Octobers when the pressure started to weigh on the team.

  9. Yeah...usually not scoring EVER is not fun to watch. But beyond that, there's nothing interesting... even the players look like they'd rather be anywhere else I hate when people say things like that. When your team is losing you always look like that. When your team is winning you always look like you are playing with a lot of heart. Ehhh....I think it's obvious they're losing focus. Why would they be losing focus?
  10. Yeah...usually not scoring EVER is not fun to watch. When your team is winning you always look like you are playing with a lot of heart.
  11. San Francisco has only scored 6 runs in their last 5 games. Of course we've scored half of that.
  12. Yeah...usually not scoring EVER is not fun to watch.
  13. Bobby Scales is now 0 for his last 14 since Lou said that he has earned himself more playing time.
  14. 3 runs scored in our last 41 innings. Opposing pitchers have a 0.66 ERA against the Cubs over the last 4.5 games.
  15. Yay, we're finally losing. I was starting to get worried we wouldn't.
  16. He's looking sharp, but hasn't even lowered his ERA with his performance tonight.
  17. Derrek Lee has done half as much in one AB as the Cubs offense as a whole has done the last 37 innings.
  18. Nice job Lee. Looks like the 85% of the board who thought he was washed up might not be correct.
  19. Nothing like following a 6 game winning streak with potentially a 5+ losing streak. 2 runs in our last 33 innings or 99 outs.
  20. That was better than any of MJs game winners except game 6 in 1998. What can I say other than I predicted that. It's amazing when superstars can come through like that. I could probably do that new out of every 300 attempts. Props LBG.
  21. I am happy. I just didn't want to get swept. At this point anything can happn if we somehow steal game 4 but I still think wings in 5
  22. 4-1 series win in 3 OT games? Yup cept I don't know if we get the 1 this time.
  23. This is the 95 WCF all over again.
  24. This is the 95 WCF all over again.
  25. Just sneak one through somehow please hawks.
