    He was very good in 03 before the injury. He had one hot month and was already coming back down to earth when he got hurt. He had a .216/.278/.284/.562 line in the 24 games before he got hurt, while having a .328/.348/.593/.941 before that 24 game stretch dropping his OPS from .941 to .839.

    What do the last 100 years have to do with this one? Do you really think that fans operate in some vortex? If people were born within a year, loved the Cubs then died within that year you might have a point. But people live 65+ years, and experience the long droughts of this pathetic franchise. The goal is to win the world series. Until the Cubs do, they will have that stigma, and so will the fans. That's the perception. Still doesn't answer why I shouldn't be positive about this team because the Wrigley family/Tribune Co. was too cheap to spend money on good players in the 80s and 90s for example.

    Why are you even here? It's really unfair for so many of you to claim to hate/not care about this team and then not follow through. This team has lost 9 of 11. Those 2 wins were a 5th inning rain shortened game and a 8th inning win against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Doesn't change the fact that your presence isn't adding anything positive. What's there to be positive about when your team has lost 9 of 11? Assuming a sweep after the first game, a really close game at that, is beyond just negative.

    Negotiation tactic. The Cubs will be sold to Ricketts and no one else. i know but i figured id just post it in here instead of making it a new thread. Yeah, it was a good piece of info to post, that's just my comment on it. I really hope the sale unexpectedly gets done in time to make moves around the trading deadline.

    Well I mean they can't just lob the ball over the plate. There is some science to it. But it is frustrating to see how poor their control is when we need to throw a strike.

    Interesting. Guess I'm wrong, although some of that can be from IBB's, but either way, theres not a huge difference there. Is that career or this year or what? I'd be interested to see if he's gotten better or worse at walking with RISPs as his career has progressed. You and your stupid stats.

    What I'm worried about is that the delayed sale of the team is really going to handcuff the Cubs from being able to do anything at the deadline to improve the team. That said, there are still a lot of reasons we can make the playoffs as is. If we can't come around, this might just be a lost year. If this is the case, whatever. We've waited 100 years, what's a few more ( :( )

    At least it wasn't Lee? Doesn't Lee only have 1 GIDP this season? It's time to drop the Lee GIDP jokes because of one outlying year where he hit into a bunch of them.
