  1. Be patient Theriot. If you get ahead in the count you might not even have to hit the ball.
  2. Wow...now to win we have to do something we can never do.
  3. ...it's not Marmol. Marmol is still by far our most unhittable reliever on the team.
  4. Marmol: I WANT Parkman. Give me Parkman.
  5. And wow I didn't realize what a nice matchup on Sunday Night Baseball tonight. Carpenter vs. Cliff Lee.
  6. And the White Sox beat the Brewers again.....thanks White Sox?
  7. Maybe Mark Grace should have been named the new hitting coach. :)
  8. And that accomplishes....? Honestly if more runs are scored today by the Cubs, its like 90% likely those runs are from Lee, Bradley or Soto.
  9. Last 21 games for Fukudome - 9 for his last 62 with a line of .145/.285/.242/.527
  10. Fukuometer - .267 Last season .257/.359/.379 This season .267/397/.430 Still ahead of last year's final numbers
  11. I just realized that Lee is leading the Cubs in hitting at .276
  12. Thank God, we actually did it. Thanks Theriot.
  13. I saw that. Interesting. At least he can go down feeling good about his last start even though his performance was largely due to the fact that our offense is horrible. Why the hell should he feel good? He was horrible today...he gave up like 4 hits to the stinkin Cubs. I don't blame Minnesota for sending him down. They have to have better options out there. 4 hits? Sheesh...
  14. They're not trading Brian Roberts after he signed that long extension last offseason. Not gonna happen.
  15. The Cubs have lost 5 straight contests against the Twins, with their last win against them coming June 17, 2001. It's about time we beat them.
  16. Kevin Gregg is our closer [/southern drawl]
  17. that's kind of silly. i'm ot a lou fan at all, but let's be honest. the manager can only control so much. lou is certainly making things worse, but ultimately it's up to the hitters to hit. he can do everything to help them, but if they suck, they suck. right now there isn't really anything he can do to get these guys hitting. it's up to the players. Lou is the mouthpiece for the team. When he sounds confused and perplexed it doesn't give fans (and possibly management and/or players) confidence that he's the right guy to lead the team. Now, will giving us some BS answer about how he is working with the players everyday, etc etc make the team play better? No probably not...its a rather trivial annoyance. But its something that definitely bothers me about his managing style. so you're upset that he's being honest? In a way yes. If the leader of your team doesn't know what to do and doesn't seem to know if our problems will be fixed, how does that reflect on the team, who is obviously pressing? Now obviously we have no idea what goes on beyond closed doors, and I'm sure Lou isn't sitting there telling his players he has no confidence in them, but they definitely do hear what Lou says to the media too.
  18. The source of this is BleedCubbieBlue's insider that Al talks about occasionally "Deep Goat". So this is a take it for what it's worth thing because I have no idea how valid the insider is, but here is what Al posted after on his site the game today. It's barely enough to make a new thread, but I thought it would be interesting to at least speculate.,, Firing someone or some people on the coaching staff? A trade for a 3B? Just some stupid call up of another useless AAA player? We'll see.

  20. You know what's annoying with Lou? "I don't know how to fix it. I don't have the answers" Lou you are the manager of the team, you have to have answers. Or if you don't, at least BS us and tell us you do. Saying that you don't know how to make the Cubs play better is admitting that you don't know how to do your job. It makes him look incompetent and makes fans wonder who is leading this sinking ship. Imagine if you were a sales manager at a company, where your job is to manage a sales team and help them sell a product, and your manager asks you why your branch's sales are so low and you say "I don't know, I don't have the answers" How long would you work there?
  21. Yeah its kind of annoying how Q stubbornly stuck to this style of play the entire series. Part of me thinks, this is what got you here, this is why you were able to shread goalies like Lungo in the playoffs, see if it can work. But when the Hawks got completely outclassed in Game 1, he should have already been making adjustments. And the Wings just got off a series with a team that showed us how to slow down the Wings. I mean part of it is the fact that Anaheim has really nice defensemen, but the Hawks have better shooters. Like you said, slow the game down, even up your odds, and take your chances with your skilled shooters.
