  1. I feel like Blanco somehow finds his way to the plate in every big AB in this series so far.
  2. See? It's not all that bad when you throw strikes.
  3. Heilman is so annoying. He still is afraid to throw anything for strikes and gets behind every hitter he faces. He lives with nibbling at the corner and hoping the batter goes outside the strike zone to swing. He simply doesn't trust his stuff.
  4. It's like the bullpen from April and early May has returned, and with the same culprits.
  5. Wow Heilman walked the first batter he faced? That's a shocker.
  6. I can't believe that move backfired. I am one of the bigger Marmol defenders out there, but this was a really really stupid situation to bring him in.
  7. Mr. 5 walks to ever 6 batters is coming in with the bases loaded protecting a 1 run lead.
  8. A lefty playing 3b? That'd be interesting. We have a righty playing first... More common than a lefty playing 3B
  9. Your continued hatred (or whatever it is) of Blanco is baffling. He's a cheap backup, same as Hill. I'm not sure what you expect out of such players. Correct, Blanco is a cheap backup with a great glove and a nice guy to start once in a while, but right now hes a starter due due Aaron Miles suctitude, and thats what I dont like. He's starting because Aramis is hurt. No, Miles was starting because Aramis is hurt. Blancos starting because Miles sucks. Who was starting because Aramis is hurt. It all goes back to Aramis being hurt. Otherwise, its really stupid to rip on Blanco for not being good enough if he's only replacing Aaron Miles.
  10. I'm not completely convinced he is a full time player. Dude still seems to have trouble with breaking pitches and pitchers with really good fastballs. He's also only walked 8 times in 122 PAs.
  11. Nice drive to the right side by Soriano even if it turned into a semi-routine out.
  12. 2nd one he's called this year out of 5 HRs
  13. Wow Bob Brenly that was gold right there.
  14. That would have been a great time to use a suicide squeeze with a really good bunter, a quick runner on 3rd and ahead in the count. Oh well, Lou doesn't know that a squeeze exists.
  15. convince yourself that we do it on purpose makes you feel better about the whole thing We are obviously trying to get more battle tested by playing as many close games as possible so that once the playoffs come around, we'll be ready. Of course, there is the chance that we don't make the playoffs because of this failed strategy but whatever.
  16. What a difference 2 days makes. 2 days ago, I'd see Fuk's leadoff double and think "who cares its not going to score anyways", and now I'm thinking, ok Koyie, take one up the middle and get the run home. Because I actually believe that he can.
  17. Yeah isn't that weird that we timed our offense coming back to life with the starting pitching slipping a bit?
  18. Maybe we as a board should collectively start calling other players washed up so that they get better. Mike Fontenot, you are so washed up.
  19. I almost want him to "get over it" so to say because it pains me to keep reading those comments. I'm not one of the biggest "trading DeRo was the biggest mistake ever" guys, but I am a Mark DeRosa fan, and would have had absolutely no problem being on this team. I think DeRosa will be back some day. Unfortunately it will probably be as a washed up free agent. I love DeRo though and wish he was still on the team. I think Neuby said the other day when I was talking with him after the Sox/Cubs rainout, but it might have been someone else, DeRosa has become our Aaron Rowand. It makes perfect sense. Both were given a ton of credit for the team's success and the success was said to be beyond the box score, and both teams blamed their departures for the team's struggles the following season. Fans of both teams will continue to hold out hope that DeRo/Rowand will be reacquired by the team. The big difference is that the Sox actually got major league talent for trading Rowand (Thome), while the Cubs got some minor league arms. My guess is DeRosa will never be a Cub again. I can't see him fitting into the team's plans again in the future after trading him.
  20. Man, I like Flynn too. But I don't understand the chatter about the Bulls going PG in round 1. Some reasons: 1) I think the Bulls think Rose is less of a pure point guard than they thought when they drafted him. That's not a bad thing because he looks like a much better pure scorer than they thought as well. 2) If Ben Gordon leaves, there is going to be a lot of mixing and matching between the guard spots. Salmons would be the only primary SG on the team. Hinrich can play both, and I bet Rose would get some looks at SG as well and may end up developing into one. 3) Of course you can say well why don't they just draft a SG then? The Bulls probably think the available PGs have more upside than the available SGs.
  21. An increase of .087/.083/.153/.236 over the last month. Not bad at all.
  22. Geez, if I was an Indians fan, I'd hate to see DeRosa talk about his desire to be on another team. But as a Cub fan, awesome I almost want him to "get over it" so to say because it pains me to keep reading those comments. I'm not one of the biggest "trading DeRo was the biggest mistake ever" guys, but I am a Mark DeRosa fan, and would have had absolutely no problem being on this team.
  23. There is a lot of people that need to be called out on that account. A lot of people on this board would have traded Lee straight up for a PTBNL a month or two ago. Of course there are some that would still do that now given his salary, but still he has much more value than people gave him credit for.
  24. You can watch it on MLB.com right now.
