  1. I wouldn't mind it. Gregg is kinda scaring me lately. Lou said Gregg and Heilman are unavailable tonight. Marmol is the closer, which most people wouldn't be much more comfortable with.
  2. Can we play the Astros again? More specifically Mike Hampton and Russ Ortiz.
  3. 75 pitches for Wells. Could he be the Cubs first CG of the year? More realistically, he might be able to go 2 more if he keeps it up.
  4. Man thank God Fontenot hit that homer, I don't know if we are going to score again. Also, no Gregg and Heilman today so if we can get through 7, I feel decent about Guz and Marmol finishing it up.
  5. While that would be mildly humerous, I don't the Cubs are that dumb. Maybe remove him from the closers role, but not all out release him.
  6. I was more upset after he blew the lead yesterday than today. Maybe it's because the Cardinals lost already, or maybe because the offense didn't really earn a victory today, or maybe its because we all kind of braced for this when Gregg came in to protect a 1 run lead after blowing the game yesterday.
  7. Lemme call my buddy Kim Jong and see what I can conjure up.
  8. Even when he gets the job done, he's constantly throwing meatballs. Hell he threw a meatball to Ramirez in his AB. There are better options than Kevin Gregg. He can be a nice 6th or 7th inning guy when the game isn't on the line, but as far as I'm concerned he shouldn't be the closer anymore.
  9. Leave it to the Cubs to put that vomit taste in our mouths yet again. I know, I was feeling quite good about us leaving Florida with a series win 2 years in a row. Even though we won the season series against the Marlins 4-3, it feels like we went 2-5 against them. We just never have an easy damn time with them. I hate them more than any team not based within 5 miles of a 600 ft arch. Yes I hate them more than the White Sox.
  10. Really sucks we lost the game, but we certainly had our chances to win offensively earlier in the game blowing chances for runs in the 1st and 3rd innings. Runner on third with 1 out should be converted a large majority of the time IMO. I'm not saying Gregg isn't in complete fault, but we could have avoided him even pitching. The loss isn't the end of the world. Still only 0.5 back of the Cardinals, and unfortunately we lost a game in the WC to both Colorado and SF, and are 2 games behind them both. Try to suck it up, maybe mull some changes in the pen and hopefully beat up on the hapless Reds this week. A season like this, its easier to take these losses for some reason. It stings, but I'm over it.
  11. Guzman for closer, Marmol in the 8th, Marshall in the 7th, Gregg 6th, Grabow LOOGY
  12. Wow..... Maybe this is just like Wood vs. Cubs
  13. oh, it could definitely hurt Just like him playing at third cost us a bunch of games, right? Playing him at third, a position at which he has a decent amount of experience and the correct skillset to play at an even acceptable level is a completely different animal than putting him at second. I'd say he'd be about as successful at second as Geovany Soto. There is a reason why big bulky power hitters tend to be corner IF/OF, just like theres a reason why power hitting SS/2B tend to move to the corners later in their careers (ex. ARod)
  14. He didn't even leave his feet. But Hermida had to cover a lot of ground to get there so in that respect it was nice. I thought for sure Lee hit an RBI double for a few seconds.
  15. Still doesnt change thefact that Heilman sucks at his job. Overall, yeah, but he's been pretty good lately and I can't get too upset over allowing one run. He has? He has a 8.10 ERA over his last 13 appearances including today....if you want to cut it down even more recent, 7.20 ERA over his last 6 appearances.
  16. 16 in a row....its the same field you play on a home except the OF walls are configured differently. It can't be that hard.
  17. Probably 10 feet from a 2-0 game with Cajun Connection homers
  18. Waste of a triple there. Really frustrated to see Lee pop it up on the first pitch, but he's picked us up too many times to get too upset. Would have liked to get a quick run before Nolasco settles in.
  19. 3 run lead 1 out to go and 2 outs what is that 99.5% chance of victry
  20. That was much much needed. Thanks Ryan, I can at least calm down a bit until Gregg walks the first batter in the bottom of the 9th.
  21. Agreed. Marmol is more likely to walk a run in than get a dp
