  1. Jake Fox's impatience is start to hurt him.
  2. Good to see the Bulls heavily concentrate their marketing efforts on that series against the Celtics last spring. I'm fine with that, but somebody might want to tell them we lost that series :)
  3. Home of kidnappers, murderous ball players, a bat s#^$ crazy president and Ozzie Guillen
  4. Yeah that guy is currently the 5th OF on the Twins.
  5. That won't happen until they develop the technology to make the computers able to screw the Cubs consistently.
  6. I don't know about that call. Could have been a strike, but that double play in the 2nd could have been a fielder's choice. Oh well, 2 runs on 9 hits for the Cubs.
  7. Who can we hate on now? Back to Soriano? or has Geo gained a few pounds again lately...I can't tell.
  8. Dare I say that Bradley is RED HOT right now? His average for the season is even over .260
  9. Now is not the time to play poorly, especially with the Cardinals playing so well. It's hard to judge how well the Cardinals are playing when they've been playing the Pirates and Mets. Think about the fact that the Cardinals week consisted of Monday: Off day, players rest and bullpen regroups Tuesday: Were losing by 2 runs in the 9th and came back and won Wednesday: Were blown out and shut out by the Mets long reliever Thursday: Off day, players rest and bullpen regroups Friday: Had to come back and take the lead in the 8th inning to beat hapless Pirates Saturday: Beat Pirates soundly Sunday: Had to come back and take the lead in the 8th inning to beat the hapless Pirates Thats 3 late inning comebacks, 1 blowout loss, 1 convincing victory (if u can call a 2 run win over the Pirates a convincing victory) and 2 off days. Now granted you have to be a good team to make those comebacks, but it's obvious they've struggled against some mediocre to bad teams this week.
  10. Gotta love giving up a run from 2 errors, a SB and a wild pitch
  11. Where is Wavin Wendell when you need him? No not Wavin Wendell, but when I can't think of one time we've gotten thrown out at the plate on an agressive send this year, either we have a infallible 3rd base coach, or one that is completely afraid of an agressive send. Don't get me wrong, the topic is probably a trivial one at best, as I can't see too many runs gained because of it, but it is interesting to discuss.
  12. I wonder if "being more selective" went out the window as an orgainzational philosophy right around the time "get more left-handed" came into fashion. there are situations where the Cubs look disciplined, just as there are individual players who know what they are doing. But its clear that certain people on this team have no grasp of working the count. Jake Fox is someone who might be on this list soon.
  13. Well it's tied up 3-3...oh wait, Fox's double bounced over the wall, and the umps made a miserably bad call on a play at 2B.
  14. It's funny to see a pitcher who has given up 7 hits in 3 innings act so in control of a bases loaded 1 out situation. In a situation where you absolutely don't want to get behind in the count too much, he was able to confidently throw 5 straight balls in that AB to Baker, and in the Soriano AB he was able to climb the ladder without a worry. Guys when your team has loaded the bases, you are in control not the pitcher. This is why we've struggled to score runs this season.
  15. To continue that thought as we don't score again after an interesting hold at 3B, can anyone remember many times where we've seen a Cubs runner gunned out at home? I'm starting to convince myself that Quade is petrified at being burned on a send.
  16. For a team that has dealt with a horrible lack of situational hitting this year, I'm surprised at how conservative our 3rd base coach is. I'm not saying right there wasn't a good hold, but there have been quite a few times this year I've wondered why the runner was held only to see no runs score later in the inning.
  17. See that first pitch swinging I wasn't thrilled with. Not because he popped up, but because the pitcher is in a bit of trouble and I would have liked Lee to see a few pitches to see if the pitcher gets himself way behind in the count.
  18. They're playing the Pirates. =( They have a 6 game homestand this week against the Reds and Padres too. Yup and then after 3 in LA, they play 4 more vs. SD. Easiest stretch of the season for them probably against one of our hardest. That's why I haven't gotten too pissed off about this because I was kinda expecting us to fall back a bit. Still 1/3 of the season left to play though.
  19. LOL Holliday gets jammed and hits a weak grounder that rolls perfectly paralell to the 3B line and hits the bag for a IF hit.
  20. I thought he was saying "you stink"
