It's not college If your knee hits the ground you're down, no? Um, no. OH YEAH! WIDE LEFT! So what's the point of a QB taking a knee if it doesn't mark the player down? I think there is some sort of rule about, if no players go past the LOS, then a knee without contact = down. But I think that rule is in place specifically with kneel downs in mind to protect the QB. I think the logic is, if no one goes past the LOS, they aren't trying to advance the ball so it's down.
