Not to put too much pressure on Jean Lenti Ponsetto, but this next coach selection will likely decide the fate of the DePaul athletic program. Their contract with the Big East ends with the 2014-2015 season and if they continue to be putrid, they will likely get kicked out and replaced, likely ending in the Atlantic 10 or Horizon League, likely costing the university millions in revenue and likely eliminating more sports from their already pretty thin athletic program budget. Kudos to her for finally standing up for the tradition of the program and ending this clown's reign. Now hopefully some alumni will pony up some money for a real coach because the money wasn't even there to buy him out last year even though she tried. When did they try to buy him out? I didn't read about that. They actually extended him last January until 2012. I'm pretty happy that this happened, but you are right, the program is at a crossroads. They claim that money isn't an object in finding a long term coach, and I hope that is true. DePaul basketball can succeed even with a small fan base, dilapidated facilities, and non existence in it's media market. The Big East is full of programs that deal with the exact same factors DePaul has (Marquette, Villanova, Providence, St. Johns, Seton Hall, even Georgetown). They need to figure out how they want to build their program, and once they do that, go out and find the best possible coach for that situation. Personally, if I had a choice, I would contact Brian Gregory from Dayton and see if he's interested in coming to DePaul. It's arguable that DePaul is a more prominent program than Dayton at this time, but there are advantages to the DePaul job. He's done a good job of recruiting his share of top prospects from the area (such as Chris Wright). Another name that keeps popping up that makes me laugh is none other than Dave Leito. I'm still pissed he left the program in shambles after some good years, and now he's out of a job and would probably consider DePaul again.

Aren't all playoff losses amongst the most demoralizing losses you could imagine? Give me an example of a playoff game that wouldn't fall into this category. Would you have rather the Packers not made a comeback? Not picking on you, just wondering, because I always think like that, and if asked that I would say like a 27-17 loss would be better because we'd just be beaten by a better team but at least were in the game and not blown out. But in reality, I'd be picking those moments of close calls that didn't go our way, which happen in every game to make me demoralized beyond belief about what could have been. losing on a fumble in ot after you just missed a wide open reciever for a td that would have ended the game (and after you came back from 21 down in the second half) is a bit different than losing like the eagles or patriots did this weekend, yea. True. I missed the play where he missed the receiver, I had to run an errand the last 5 minutes of the 4th and only heard the rest on the radio. Maybe if I saw how close it was I could understand better. he was wide open and all alone. all he had to do was hit him and it's game over. he overthrew him by about 5 feet That's rough. It happens all the time in football, but with the way Rodgers was playing it's hard to see him miss that throw.

Since I went 0-4 this weekend, I feel it my duty to make my picks early this week so that you can bet on the other teams. New Orleans 34 Arizona 31 Indianapolis 20 Baltimore 17 Dallas 30 Minnesota 24 San Diego 26 New York 13 BTW, I'm not as anti-Minnesota's chances as it seems. I just can't have all 4 home teams winning this week and I like the Dallas/Minny game to be that one. Minny in the dome is tough but so is Dallas over the last month.

That's the thing. Part of the Hawks offense is to throw it on the net and try to convert rebounds. They don't always stress waiting for a great look to shoot. So the Hawks will rack up a bunch of shots but not all of them are solid SOG, so games like this will happen occasionally.

Finally, at least they didn't shut us out.

that's what people said after every bad loss the cubs had during the 2008 season. only a fluke team could have a badass record and then free fall. this team is not a fluke. they are the best team in the nhl. the only way they could have a free fall is if they were crushed by injuries. I know, even a "free fall" I wouldn't expect to be devastating, just bad enough that it would be tough to stay in the President's Trophy race upon recovery. The last 3 games by the Hawks, we gave up a 2-0 lead to start the game against Boston, blew a 4 goal game midway through the 3rd period and lost, and now let Anaheim build up a 2-0 lead tonight. Not an impressive stretch of hockey considering what we're used to. first of all, every single team goes through a stretch like this. the 2008 cubs went through like 3 different horrible stretches. and i dont see why you're complaining about giving up a 2-0 lead to boston when we scored 5 straight and won. might as well point out every time this season that an opposing team has scored 2 straight. also, theyre outplaying the ducks tonight. First of all I haven't been able to watch the game so I was making an assumption they were getting outplayed. After looking at the SOG numbers I see its one of those games.
