  1. What a great move and pass by Kane, and what a nice shot by Sharpie! Hold on for 4 minutes and get a W please.
  2. Did anyone post this?
  3. Yes! Sound effects and snickering ahead!
  4. lol, awesome Dempster was at the press conference.
  5. Wow I didn't think Michigan would be 15 in both polls. I think Michigan and Illinois should swap, and I'm a Michigan fan.
  6. We shouldn't even play. We should let Derrick Rose rest and just take an 0-2.
  7. Cliff Lee this postseason: 4 starts 3-0 record 33.1 IP 3 ER 20 H 3 BB 0.81 ERA 0.69 WHIP 30 K Dayyymmmnn
  8. This is a great game for those who love pitchers duels. It's not just a pitchers duel because of the lack of scoring....both pitchers are raking. Lee especially has his best stuff, and CC is around the top of his game too.
  9. What the hell has gotten into Colorado? They have started the season 9-1-2 and lead the NHL in points. Most people had them towards the very bottom of the Western Conference this year. Are they legit?
  10. It's beginning to look like the Hawks are going to coast this year. By that I don't mean they will show less than optimal effort, just that they should be able to make the playoffs very easily. The only interesting things about the regular season are whether they can overtake Detroit and claim a top 3 seed in the playoffs, and how well Hossa will mesh with the team when he comes aboard.
  11. They really have no choice but to rebuild from within considering their payroll limits (if that's still the case). It becomes even more glaring if you keep AGonz and sign him to an extension. Why would they keep AGonz if they are about to go on a long rebuilding period?
  12. It's funny how you use Marshall as an example when Marshall was a 3rd round pick I believe. How many mediocre receivers have we drafted in the 3rd round or later the last few years? We can't rely on getting lucky and finding a star WR in the later rounds. Every once in a while it happens, but we'll most likely have to made a trade or sign a FA. How many mediocre WRs have we busted on in the 1st round too? Well just 1 (Terrell) but he's the only one we've drafted. Actually I don't know why I'm arguing with you, I agree with you. The thing is, I don't trust anything drafted by Angelo at this point and time. How many league average starters has Angelo drafted in the last 4 drafts? One? Yes you can upgrade by FA, but if you can only draft 1 league average starter in your last 4 drafts (and I realize the last 2 drafts need more time to develop but so far so bad), the team is going to be in trouble.

  14. And if we had a GM who would give a damn about upgrading the OL instead of avoiding it like the plague. Cutler is too talented to have it wasted behind this line. I still don't know why people say our GM doesn't try to upgrade the O-line. I don't think he tries super hard, but he's paid attention to it, using a 1st round pick, a 3rd round pick, and multiple FA signings to try to fix it. Raisin and I had this discussion recently. I think the problem is, Angelo doesn't make good decisions regarding the O-line. Williams seems ok and I realize it's his first year, but a couple of OTs taken within 5 picks of Williams (Brandon Albert and Jeff Otah) are already solid contributors on their team's O-lines. In fact, I was reading a couple of weeks ago that Albert is starting to be considered a potential Pro Bowl caliber player. The Bears 2 big FA signings on the line have been absolutely disastrous. Pace has been old and slow, and Oimiyle or however you spell it has been even worse. Angelo gambled that Pace still had something left in his tank (I remember hearing quotes from Rams personnel that Pace still had considerable talent but couldn't stay healthy), and Omiyle has not at all lived up to the "loads of potential" people said he had, albeit while learning a new position. Until Angelo learns how to evaluate talent on the O-line, we'll never be able to build a decent line. I will say though, he did build the last incarnation of the Bears line right? (Garza, Brown, Miller). By no means was it a world class line, but it was above average until age caught up to everyone. The final sporadic thought I have is that Angelo should have gone out and gotten Alan Faneca 2 offseason's ago when he was a FA. Now we are under the cap and have a horrible O-line.
  15. It's true though. People forget it's only his 3rd full season as a starter. Many past elite QBs weren't at their peaks in that part of their careers. I too worry about our coaches being able to develop Cutler further, especially when I go back and look at Cutler highlights in Denver and see him making the same exact mistakes I've seen him make with the Bears (mostly refusing to take a sack and forcing balls into areas that it takes a perfect pass to get to). I do believe he can improve on his weak areas and become an elite QB. As it is, he's probably only slightly better than middle of the road QB along with QBs like Eli, Hasselbeck, Romo, etc. Also, this would be a non discussion if he had an offensive line that could give him time to throw. He would be having a stellar season and people would be praising us on the trade.
  16. I honestly think the Phillies are going to roll over the Yankees. I picked Phillies in 5. They are the only team in baseball that has the pitching and hitting to best the Yankees. On a related note, how are the Yankees planning on handling the no-DH at CBP? Are they going to sit Matsui or move him to the OF and sit Swisher?
  17. Where are you seeing Cutler sucks at? I'll admit that I am a bit frustrated at his play especially the last 2 weeks. He hasn't seemed very accurate at all, not just on the INTs but on incomplete passes and even completed passes. I'm also reading Broncos fans are saying that the comments in the media about his arm accuracy are a complete myth. However, I still do not doubt the decision to make the trade one bit. It's pretty obvious he has the skills to be among the top 3 QBs in the league, but it's up to us to develop them further. His ceiling is much much higher than Ortons and I'd say right now in a vacuum he's a better QB than Orton.
  18. Weird most teams are moving from Florida to Arizona and the Cubs are threatening to do the reverse. Oh well not a big deal to me...my mom lives in Phoenix so I usually take trips down there to see the Cubs, but my GF's uncle owns a condo in Bonita Beach (town next to Naples) that is unoccupied in March so I can just as easily go down there to see them. For the sake of tradition, I'd like to see them stay in AZ, but for the sake of cheaper plane tickets from Chicago I wouldn't mind Naples.
  19. I changed Lovie Smith's page from "Lovie Smith is the head coach" to "Lovie Smith is the interim head coach" yesterday and it's still there. Must be true.
  20. I was so tempted to drive down for this game and now I'm glad I didn't. Sorry you had to be the one to waste your money No one could have predicted that. Even a close loss would have been acceptable because at least I'd likely have moments of cheering. I was looking forward to the game for a month, so excited I couldn't sleep the night before. And I literally did not have a single opportunity to cheer or have fun. It was the worst possible game you could possibly goto. But it's ok...that's the risk you take when you go to road games in the NFL. I've been to plenty of awesome Bears games so it's not the end of the world.
  21. I just tuned in but it looks so far like the Hawks are playing the style of play that Minny is known for.
  22. Just tuned in unfortunately...why are they wearing white uni's at home today? That's retro.
  23. Yeah, I'm just bitter. Sue me.
  24. It means they act like a city in the north half the time and they act like hicks the other half of the time. Also, the generalizations of Cubs fans not knowing when to cheer is completely incorrect as we all know. I saw and heard the Bengals fans with my own eyes and ears, and they definitely have no idea how to affect a game.
  25. BTW, I wanted to make this "Yes I'm bitter, but this is true" observation about the Bengals fans. Their fans are awful. I swear in those few seconds the game allegedly was still up for grabs, their fans were quiet and didn't know when to cheer. When the Bengals got the ball, their fans were cheering pre-snap like their team was on defense. And then when their team was on defense, the cheering before every play was minuscule compared to what I am used to at Soldier Field. If I would put Soldier Field's pre-snap cheers for the defense at a 10, the Bengals fans were only at a 4. Also, before the game got out of hand (5 minutes in), I heard several unmistakable "Lets go Bears" chants reverberate through Paul Brown Stadium. In fact, right after the national anthem the 15-20k Bears fans in the audience started one such chant, and the 45k Bengals fans couldn't drown it out! Some of them tried but they couldn't. I don't have a lot of respect for the city of Cincinnati in general (the city is ok at best, their people are weird and don't know whether to be a northerner or a hick), but the experience at the game made me lose some of what I had. I expect their fans to get on the Bears fans invading their stadium, especially because they completely embarrassed the opponents, so that didn't bother me too much..such is life on the road in the NFL, but the rest bothered me.
