  1. True. And it's not like we didn't take advantage of the winds too. We scored 3 times the runs we normally do. So everyone wins.
  2. Geovany Soto
  3. Sadly this is only the 3rd worst Cincinnati beatdown of a Chicago sports team in the last 9 months. The previous 2 were on Thursday, and in October when the Bengals embarrassed the Bears.
  4. Jim Hendry traded a future All Star for the great Jose Ascaino.
  5. Arthur Rhodes, first All Star game at age 40 wow.
  6. Don't they usually announce the starters first and then the reserves? I had no idea this was going to happen today. Oh well 2 straight years we've had 1 All Star that probably wouldn't have been selected if there wasn't an "every team needs 1 All Star" rule.
  7. Don't bother. You'll read so many 'reports' that contradict each other that you'll get a headache. Sometimes I wish we could go back to the glory days where you didn't find out about anything until it was announced on TV. With the internet, there are 10,000 people who act like they are credible and fans have no choice to go through thousands of reports, of which 99% are probably untrue, but there's no way of knowing which 1% are actually true.
  8. I read that he was going to announce his decision today but he didn't want to take any attention away from UFC 116 tonight.
  9. Well they'd still have a lot of cap space left if they signed Wade and Bosh. There's still a pretty good FA class behind the top guys. I do agree the Bulls are in a much much better position though even if we only got 1 guy.
  10. if it's true (and it's probably not), that would be good news. Why? It could mean that Wade and Bosh go to Miami and LeBron stays in Cleveland.
  11. As far as hoping the Cubs go into funbad mode, I think we are already there. In 2006, I saw some things I never thought I'd see in my life. The worst of which were 1) Ronny Cedeno getting thrown out at 2nd on a walk because he overslid the bag, 2) Two runs scoring on a sacrifice fly, 3) Two runs scoring on a wild pitch, 4) Four errors on one player (Freddie Bynum) in a 3 inning span. Today, the Cubs crossed into that territory by allowing the Reds to bat around without the benefit of a single hit until finally the 9th batter got one. What will they do next?
  12. According to the Trib..... Cubs have been shut out 5 of the last 13 games. Cubs have scored 1 run or less 7 of the last 13 games. Cubs have scored 3 runs or less 11 of the last 13 games. That's unbelievably bad.
  13. wade is a spy You know what, that actually could be true. Nice catch. If he is, the Bulls aren't going to give him the info he desires. GarPax is not stupid, the though had to have crossed their minds.
  14. I'd probably watch it. What's the problem there? Did you have a problem with Eric Karros recording events around the Cubs in 2003? Was he being an arrogant prick? No problem with it, but it makes me feel like he's just taking these meetings for the sake of the documentary, considering everyone and their mom expects him to stay in Miami. Same with Bosh due to all the reports that he was a lock to sign in Miami, but instead of taking a bunch of meetings and not committing to anyone at the moment. In the meantime, him and Wade are together at every moment not spent in meetings.
  15. Definitely an entertaining game. Brazil didn't seem like Brazil everyone knows and loves for much of this tournament.
  16. That's it ??? That's your game thread ?? After all that whining, that's the best you can do ?             I put a lot of thought into my Subject. I had to choose between Cubs, Cobs, COBS, Scrubs, Punchless Wonders (wouldn't fit), Losers, and 2003 Tigers (also wouldn't fit)
  17. The Cubs have the 8th best team ERA in baseball (3.85) and are only 0.02 points away from having the 6th best ERA. In June, they held the 3rd best ERA in baseball (3.43) yet went 10-16. Unfortunately, the Cubs are 26th in the MLB in runs scored. 10th in April, 24th in May, 26th in June. .597 OPS for the Cubs in the last 7 days. Ouch.
  18. I agree with the latter part of your post about reloading, but I don't know if I can predict next year. Obviously we're a playoff team with our top lines, and we've kept the D mostly in tact, assuming we keep Hammer. But considering how close the margin of error was in the Vancouver and SJ series....we won out with our depth. We could have lost both of those series last year...now all that depth is gone. I don't think I can predict how well we'll go until midway through the year. The margin of error is always narrow in hockey, though. I don't think it's as simple as "it was close and we lost a player so now we'll lose." We were a good team that caught some breaks and a hot streak, and we'll need to do that again. You're being too modest. Last year's Hawks were fantastic, not some lucky break cinderella. Never said they were a cinderella. According to that one blog behind the net or whatever its called the Hawks were by far the best team in the league last year and actually underperformed in the playoffs. The Hawks could easily be as good as Vancouver and SJ or whatever next season, or they could be clearly worse, or they might still be slightly better. When your talking about losing depth, and not necessarily top end talent, its hard to tell until you see it's effects.
  19. Cubs need to win the next 3 games to have a winning home stand. Let's get errrr duuun.
  20. That can't be a good sign if you are associated with the Knicks. I understand James isn't going to tip his hand on what his decision is, but the fact that James seems to be pretty much a robot during the Knicks presentation, is not a good sign. "the dude just sat there. he didn't even say bye when he left." Was he sleeping?

  22. I know you're kidding but that's the last thing the Hawks need. Trade all our depth and get a top line player. We would have been fine just shedding buff and versteeg from our top 4 lines and replacing them with prospects. But now we're really starting to getting into areas where it will be really tough to replace our depth. Dammit Toews, why'd you have to be so awesome in the playoffs?
  23. Some guy in my office, who pretends that he's into hockey because he doesn't want to be called a fair weather fan even though everyone knows he couldn't care less about the Hawks in March, started a conversation with me about NHL Free Agency. Surprised I said "oh yeah, what you do think is going to happen today?" This guy got all excited that I wanted to hear his insights about hockey and said "I'm pretty sure I read today that the Hawks are going to get Kave-latchuck (his pronounciation). That's why they traded Buff...so they could get him". I stared at him for a second, and then turned around and went back to work.
