This is Neris' 15th appearance this year. He's only successfully kept a runner from getting on base in 1 of those 15 appearances.
Edit: He's now allowed 2+ baserunners in 7 of his 15 appearances despite never pitching more than 1 IP in any appearance this year.
Sucks they couldnt do more with 1st and 3rd and 0 outs but I'll take the run. We've hit decently tonight....baserunners in 7 of the 8 innings so far, just bad sequencing to only have 2 runs scored.
You are just desperately looking for horsefeathers to pile on your game thread righteousness arent you? what dont you get about "they are keeping their heads above water right now but the trend is very similar"
The Padres arent particularly annoying to me, its the Cubs being unable to hit or pitch with their bullpen that is annoying. Doesn't matter who we're playing.
This is 2023 all over again. They started 14-10 in April, then the offense went into a tailspin and the bullpen was bad. This team is keeping their heads above water but the trend is very similar to me.
If we don't come back this will be the 7th game we've lost while leading in the 8th inning or later (you knew that was coming)
19% of our games this year, nearly one out of 5, will be of that variety
If for some reason the Cubs retired the Padres 1-2-3 in the 8th, Neris would be facing the 3-4-5 guys in the order in the 9th, presumably still nursing a 1 run lead.
That was a tough throw for Morel. Should have just held onto it knowing his issues with accuracy and Busch's extreme issues with catching the ball.
But I'll take the result lol
We wouldnt have to worry about whether we should extend our starters beyond what Counsell is comfortable with if our offense could score a couple freaking runs to give us some cushion. This is so damn frustrating.
