  1. Right rib contusion for belli. Doesn’t sound terrible?
  2. Zaidman is still the absolutely the worst radio PBP guy I’ve ever heard. He has absolutely no feel for the game and how to articulate the feeling of what’s going on.
  3. This going to be one of those games where the Cubs score early and then just stop? We don’t really have the bullpen for that
  4. I had no idea it’s been almost 11 years since the Astros have been back to Wrigley. From seeing them 3 times a year at Wrigley to over a decade in between appearances.
  5. This seems like it could be significant
  6. I didnt even realize how bad Smyly was doing. ER allowed in 5 of his last 7 appearances, and in 1 of the other 2 appearances, he pitched 0.0 IP and allowed an unearned run.
  7. Cooper leaving Wrigley after being cut. I think he'll catch on somewhere
  8. You can call up anyone for the 27th man regardless of how long they've been down.
  9. Well the people complaining about Cooper get what they want. I didn't really think he was much of an issue. His swing was a little slow but he came up with some big hits. That said, Mervis makes him a bit unnecessary and even if I thought he was doing ok, that doesnt mean I thought he was a must have on the roster.
  10. It doesn't look like weather will be an issue based on what I'm seeing. Tomorrow might suck though, but not because of rain, because it will be in the low 40s. And of course as soon as the Cubs go on the road again this weekend the weather gets really nice again.
  11. Interesting. I hope Mervis gets enough ABs to stay in a rhythm and make an impact.
  12. If the Bears don't leave the draft with a new WR, how comfortable are you with the WR depth chart heading into next season? DJ Moore Keenan Allen Tyler Scott Velus Jones Dante Pettis Nsimba Webster Moore has been pretty healthy throughout his career but Allen has missed 11 games the last 2 seasons so while that combo is pretty freaking great, it drops off quite a bit. Do you go after one of the remaining Free Agents (OBJ and Tyler Boyd being 2 options)?
  13. Maybe.....I believed him the last couple of times he suggested changes were coming. Fool me thrice, shame on me. I think LaVine's trade request still stands and they will heavily try to trade him but are going to have a hard time finding a trade that is acceptable to AKME so wouldn't surprise me if he fails. Vuc is probably untradeable unless we take on equally bad contracts, but maybe it might be for the best for both sides to do that. What would be idea is DeMar holding the Bulls hostage saying he won't resign unless he thinks the roster has a chance to win. It seems like AKME really wants to bring him back and might actually feel compelled to do something if he gives them that ultimatum.
  14. lol Fangraphs projected record for the White Sox based on Season-to-Date stats is 46-116. On a side note, part of me feels like Reinsdorf is gearing up to move to Nashville. There's no reason for them to be this bad, there's no reason to keep Grifol, the stadium is even more empty than usual and now he's making this big fuss about a new glamorous expensive stadium on premium land and having the state pay for it. I mean I'm sure he would be happy to stay in Chicago if the public actually buys him a new stadium but he knows that it would be the 2nd stadium in 35 years he's asking the state to build for him and that the Bears are also currently seeking public funds for a stadium and they will always be a higher priority. On top of that, taxes are sky high and the state is still broke. It's the absolute worst time and situation to be asking for public money for 1 stadium, much less 2, and he knows that.
  15. That seems like an insane punitive measure. Based on the Jimmy Johnson draft chart (which is whatever in terms of validity), it would be stripping them of the 20th overall pick. I'm sure they want to make an example out of them though especially with how blatant they were about it, but I think stripping them of a 3rd or 4th round pick seems more fair...but what do i know?
  16. You would but I'm trying to project the feasibility of a MHJ trade based on how Poles operates and I don't see it. I also think that MHJ while the clear top WR in the draft is not the only locked in WR1 in the draft so if there's even a shot that one of the other 2 fall to them I think it would be wasting resources to move up.
  17. Sure but moving up from 9 to 5 is worth more than some picks for next year. They are almost certainly gonna want at least 1 additional pick this year. Could maybe try to trade the projected worse 2nd rounder next year, and 4th rounders this year and next year for a 2nd rounder and 6th rounder this year and use it in a deal to move up. I don’t know if that trade even makes sense. I’m just spitballing
  18. Plus the idea of moving up means that Ryan "I want to build through the draft" Poles is going to be left 1 other pick outside the top 5 (assuming the 3rd gets traded in a deal to move up). I just don't see it. The Bears are improving but they are still not near a point where they can walk out of a draft with just 3 players because they traded away picks to get a final piece. If the Bears had like 7-8 picks in the draft, I could definitely see the Bears trying to move up to get MHJ, but not with 4 picks.
  19. He's asking why aren't the 8 walks Tauchman took like 2 weeks ago not relevant to a discussion about his worth?
  20. I saw an interview today with Poles where he mentioned that Caleb Williams is his son's wallpaper on his phone and its because Poles directed him to watch Caleb Williams highlights on YouTube after he was bummed about his dad trading away Fields. Meanwhile Caleb Williams is openly mentioning wanting to play for Chicago his entire career. It's a done deal and looking forward to just making it official.
  21. I’d love to see what the Cubs % of getting runs home from 3rd and less than 2 outs is compared to the rest of the league. Seems like we’re really failing in those situations often lately. But I could be completely wrong
  22. Hendricks has allowed 4 ER in 4 innings and his ERA has gone down almost 3/4 of a run
  23. Shocker the run on contact play fails again. Every single time. and I’m not even necessarily pissed about calling that play, just that it always always always blows up in their face
