  1. Cubs continue to find ways to annoy me every day. also it’s pouring out and there’s no way Steele has good grip on his pitches. Hes about to give up some runs because they won’t stop the game. This is annoying
  2. Anyone hoping for some bullpen help from injured players returning, you’re gonna have to wait
  3. Real Madrid wins the Champions League and is adding Mbappe, must be nice!
  4. That's not how this works. Now the internet panics that the defense is actually terrible.
  5. Also I've been really bitching about all the outs on the bases, but I also noticed that despite annually being in the top 5 of most outs on the bases, they somehow are also always towards the top of the league in BsR (Base running runs above average). Not sure how good this metric is, but at least according to that the Cubs are actually adding value with their baserunning. Outs on the bases: 2024 - Most 2023 - 4th Most 2022 - 2nd Most 2021 - 9th Most BsR: 2024 - 8th Best 2023 - 8th Best 2022 - 4th Best 2021 - 18th Best I'm having a difficult time understanding how the Cubs can annually be among the worst at committing outs on the bases, but also annually be in the top 3rd of teams in value created from base running. I get that there is more to base running metrics than how often you get out. The Cubs could be exceptional at going from 1st to 3rd on a single or scoring from 1st on a double I guess. Even still it doesn't make sense to me that the team that commits so many outs is also considered good. My only theory is that the Cubs must stress very aggressive baserunning, and because of that they are naturally going to be thrown out more than other teams. But at the same time they're also benefitting from taking extra bases more often than other teams, and when you add it all up, the aggression results in a good baserunning team. BTW none of this excuses the send today, that was awful. But as someone who has been putting the Cubs on blast for their baserunning for a couple of weeks, I feel compelled to also point out the positives with their baserunning.
  6. Yeah there's absolutely no way Jed is going to fortify a team in the middle of a 11-21 tailspin. And I don't know if he should until this team plays like its worth adding to.
  7. Cubs now have 27 outs on the bases this year, leading baseball -4th most outs at 1B (4) -2nd most outs at 2B (8) -3rd most outs at 3B (5) -Most outs at home (10 - 2 more than any other team)
  8. It's a team with a super aggressive 3B coach, poor baserunning instincts and a sense of desperation during a horrifically bad stretch.
  9. I saw Dansby was caught on the bases today too, was that also at home?
  10. Reds improve to 2-11 in one run games this year despite allowing the first 2 hitters to reach, hitting the 3rd batter, giving up a double and then a deepish fly ball
  11. Trends: 1-8 in last 9 games 4-13 in last 17 games 11-21 in last 32 games
  12. Just gonna keep getting runners thrown out at historic rates
  13. I hate bunting and giving up the last 2 outs but if you are really gonna hit madrigal here, might as well use him to bunt (though I wouldn't hit madrigal here) GIDP waiting to happen.
  14. At least they blew it in the 7th today instead of the 8th or later
  15. It's almost like the luckiest pitcher in baseball was destined to start giving up a lot more runs at some point.
  16. Wisdom is in the game for Tauchman
  17. You do realize Dansby Swanson is up right? Edit: or was up
  18. lmao Reds are 1-11 in one run games and they gonna just mow us down for the final 9 outs. Of course they'll probably tack on 2-3 more runs so it wont be a 1 run game.
  19. The only batted ball luck we get is bad batted ball luck
  20. The bat struggles have turned from "no one getting on base" to "getting on base acceptable amounts but not scoring very many"
  21. We just can't seem to win. Kick in the balls daily.
  22. Happ really looking comfortable up there. People too quick to bury him.
