  1. I wouldn't say that they'd build for 3-4 seasons from now, but I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't make more than a token effort (a la Beltran in 2005) at signing Fielder and Pujols. It's good Ricketts is putting the money where his mouth is. He's gotta improve somehow, and if the draft pans out, our system gets a lot better because of the decision to spend more.
  2. Name a player that averaged more shots per game than Derrick Rose this season. Not that it's the worst thing in the world, but someone who takes more shots than Derrick Rose and has a lower TS% is an interesting choice. I'd take him tho....I think they would both allow each other to take less overall shots each.
  3. Playing out a lot like last years finals except the game 3 blowout. Favored home team wins two very close games and then go on the road and lose the next 2. Hopefully the Canucks don't rebound like the Hawks did.
  4. Haha, stupid reds...couldnt even do what the Astros and Cardinals did.
  5. I completely agree with this argument.
  6. Saying the Celtics MIGHT have won without great play from the best player ever is propping them up? Mediocre LeBron (assuming that is who you are calling best player ever) would have been enough to beat the Celtics. Heck NBA Finals LeBron would have been enough. Fine then use the Heat's thrashing of the Bulls instead. By 11 total points? Edit: Of course I know we got thrashed, and the Celtics lost their series by a similar margin I think, but arguing with you is so fun.

  8. So did he lose the killer instinct after spanking the Bulls? Patrick Ewing had some killer Conference Finals once too.
  9. What? No. Wade [expletive] all over the floor in the Bulls series, and now Bulls fans are all too eager to declare him the leader of Miami because of a couple games in the finals. The Heat might not have made it past Boston without LBJ. God only knows what people would be saying if Lebron had Wade's game but lost the final possession in the same manner. LEBRON CAN'T CLOSE OUT, CHOKES WHEN IT MATTERS MICHAEL JORDAN LET ME SUCK YOUR DICK Cleverly props up Celtics........check Makes 'Bulls fans give MJ God-like qualities' reference........check
  10. The least number of points MJ had in a Finals game for his career was 22.
  11. Damn, didn't think I'd get into this series due to bitterness about the Bulls being out, but I am really hooked, this has been a fantastic series.
  12. 2-2! Did Wade get hit in the eye again? LOL
  13. Lebron is the better 3 point shooter than Wade but maybe Miller
  14. DIRK!!! HUGE!! He misses like every damn shot all game but seems to always come through at the end. Edit: Except game 3 :)
  15. I'm calling Dirk fouled, makes 2 FTs, LeBron 3 at the buzzer, going to OT.
  16. This is unreal. Dallas has missed like 80 wide open shots in a row and is still somehow clinging to the lead with 30 secs left. Neither team deserves this one. Hopefully Miami deserves it less.
  17. umm...its quite valid?
  18. *waits for Rosenbloom column where he makes a remark like 'Of course he wants to stay here. Why would he want to play somewhere else where he can get paid to look disinterested and halfass it with no accountability?"*
  19. Goes well with the fact that the Big League club isn't likely to contend for another 2 years. They're drafting for upside instead of a guy who could be up and very average in the next year or so. From what I've read, the Cubs appear to be doing a decent job in the draft so far. They can't be doing that great if they havent drafted any cubans yet.
  20. Douche is right. Then again, do we know the context? Maybe the pitcher brushed him back with a purpose pitch at some point in the game. I think what probably happened is the pitcher was bitching at him for admiring his HR. Who knows...more than likely he's just a giant douche though. At least he hasn't thrown his bat at any umpires yet.
  21. Perrenial contender? 0 playoff appearancs with Miggy, 1 division tiebreaker loss, and a 272-273 overall record with him on the team. They are a team that could easily decide with another DUI that having him on a .500ish team with him isn't getting them over the top and trade him for top prospects and rebuild.
  22. I'll be using the Movie Thread myself.
  23. That was probably rhetorical but oh well. 2006-2008 Aramis Ramirez (.299 .373 .533 .906) Current Matt Garza 2006-2008 Derrek Lee (.303 .380 .487 .866) Current Starlin Castro 2006-2008 Carlos Zambrano Current Carlos Zambrano Current Geovany Soto 2006-2008 Rich Hill
  24. I do agree that if the Cubs really don't expect to compete next year we should definitely trade Marmol. He has one of the higher trade values on the team.
  25. Meh, not excited with getting another bat that lacks plate discipline. I'm not sure I trust the Cubs ability to develop patience given people like Colvin, Vitters and even Castro.
