  1. 3rd downs killing us
  2. Cheap shotting DBs like Harper don't deserve a QB like BREES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Good to see not only we now trail but I started the wrong saints wr.
  4. Michigan (22) and Illinois (24) in, Ohio State out.
  5. And not breaking! Maybe a little bit of cracking though. Nice. I am currently sitting in my car on a fairy halfway to Marthas vineyard. I will be able to watch the second half but it's killing me to miss the 1st half
  6. You've been posting on the same forums as me since 2003 and you havent realized I'm almost certainly wrong more than I'm right?
  7. I'd be ok with that only if Pujols is involved. I just cannot see myself enjoying LaRussa's dirty style of baseball. Oh and can't wait for his first public spat with a Cubs player.
  8. Yeah I was wrong about Roach being injured. Not sure how I got that in my head while I was making that post. My bad.
  9. More like people give way too much weight to only one data point because it's the most recent one. The Bears beat arguably the preseason favorite from the NFC in a very remarkable fashion. It might be one data point, but its a big one. Yes and no. A couple of years ago the Bears went on the road to open up Lucas Oil Field and destroyed the Colts and went on to finish a mediocre 9-7 and out of the playoffs. Any given sunday in the NFL. The whole idea of sample size is so that you don't make conclusions based on insignificant amounts of data. I'll agree the Bears looked really good on Sunday and its extremely promising for our season prospects, but I am not putting more emphasis on that game than I would if we lost like 16-13 or something.
  10. Damn, I don't know if I like our odds with Harris, Roy Williams, Marion Barber, Lance Louis, and Nick Roach possibly all out. Not that any other those guys other than Harris are among the most important players on the team, but its still a hit. Harris because he's a good player, Barber because he makes the offense more dynamic, Louis because offensive line cohesion is important, and Roach because we have no damn depth there. We've probably got more injury situations in week 2 than we had all year last year. I think there were multiple weeks last year where we didnt have anyone on the injury report.
  11. Just for fun...a look back at past Bears vs. Saints games: 2006 NFC Championship: viewtopic.php?f=44&t=37844 Week 15 2008: viewtopic.php?f=44&t=52303 Can't find the game thread from Week 17 2007. I know a large majority of us were posting on windycityfootball but did we just completely stop making Bears game threads on NSBB?
  12. Brees has put up fairly mediocre numbers (for him) against the Bears in his career. But of course we've never faced him in the dome, only Chicago in December/January all 3 times. As someone else pointed out above, and as I read on the Saints own team message board, Brees has had issues with t he Cover 2 in his career. If we can continue getting pressue like last week its gonna be an interesting game.
  13. Bears got 23 points offensively against Atlanta, and I don't see how we score fewer against the Saints. I think NO is gonna blitz a ton, and Cutler is gonna make a lot of short passes to Forte and Davis. I keep hearing about how big a home field advantage it's gonna be for the Saints in the dome, but I think the Bears are gonna play better in a dome than they do at Soldier. Bears 27, Saints 16 wait wait, the Saints put up 34 points (could have easily been 40+ if not for some stupid mistakes) in an extremely hostile environment against arguably the top defense in the NFL, and they're only going to get 16 points AT HOME?? Every game is different, every defense is different and has talent with different skill sets. No one would have predicted the "greatest show on turf" Rams would score 13 points and still win the NFC title game back in 1999. It's a prediction for one game, early in the season.
  14. The Packers are overly loved by the media and have been for years so it makes sense that you wouldn't relate. It doesn't actually bother most of us, but like said above, it fills the time between games. Heres my schedule: Monday - Bitch about the game yesterday Tuesday - Bitch about the power rankings Wednesday - Discuss next weeks game Thursday - Bitch about everyone picking against the Bears Friday - Bitch about Simmons Saturday - Bitch about the Bears players that are injured and can't play Sunday - Bitch about the game as its happening. Knew that was coming but I'm an Iowa fan and they kind of compare to the Bears in seasons they are good (solid D, win ugly etc.) so they don't get the media love either so I can relate. Plus people picking the Packers mean nothing and I don't care, it doesn't mean anything to me. You also have to think about the fact that the entire Lovie Smith mantra since 2004 is about pointing out and feeling "disrepect" from outside forces. It's a much mentioned theme in Chicago media so its only natural that some of the fans might have subliminally taken up that mindset too.

  16. ROFL...I'd really like to see this. I'd love to watch this type of football happen in big time college football or the pros. Not for my team but for someone. Maybe some team that's out of it could try it in like the last quarter of a meaningless last game of the season...lol. I'd like to see some perennial loser in college football try to go with a strategy similar to the coach's, like Eastern Michigan or something, why not? What do they have to lose. More games? I really wonder how long it would take a coach to adjust if a small conference team randomly, without warning, started playing that way. I gotta think it would have tremendous success for at least a quarter. Not only is it something the players have never seen before but the coach has never probably thought about stopping a defense like that. I gotta think there is some way to get a quick screen or slant to a receiver. And once you manage to get the ball to the receiver, its likely 6. Eventually there would be a fool proof adjustment and it would stop working.
  17. Does anyone know if it is possible to get NFL team radio broadcasts on the iPhone? The only thing I've seen is only available on Verizon, and I have AT&T. I don't have Sunday Ticket, and I am assuming the stations are blacked out like they are for MLB and NBA games when you try to listen on a radio app. Or, if anyone has sunday ticket and wants to let me borrow their direct tv user name and password, that would work too :) I'm going to be driving out of market during the Bears game on Sunday and need something that will allow me to listen.
  18. My assumption was that they cut him because he was injured a lot and wasn't performing like he did 3 years ago. They had Felix Jones and Tashard Choice who they believed could give them a better performance at a lesser cost. Makes sense. We picked him up and he looked pretty explosive in preseason, much like the Barber I saw light up the Bears in 2007.
  19. Is that the 4th time in the past week that we have come back in the 9th inning on the opponents closer to at least tie it? Maybe its just the 3rd. I know they did it twice against the Mets last weekend and obviously last night.
  20. They cut him because he sucked. He sucked because he was injured
  21. Guess now we know why Dallas cut him.
  22. ESPN's guys unanimously picked the Saints. Peter King did as well.
  23. I dunno about that. Perhaps being a Bears fan and living up there has caused some bias in that regard. I mean, Lewis was on the cover of Madden, played for the U, was in the news a ton with the obstruction of justice stuff years ago, and has this whole "Godfather" of the NFL players thing going on. That's not to say that Urlacher isn't also enormously recognizable and famous, but I don't think as much as Lewis. Also, Urlacher is definitely a HOFer. No doubt. Yeah but Urlacher has appeared on Entourage, and Lewis hasn't
