Especially frustrating considering the amount of money they had available this past offseason. In theory I don't mind that move because like I said, we had a ton of options that Angelo hand picked for us. Wright was a 3rd rounder, Steltz was a 4th rounder, Conte a 4th rounder. We traded a developing LB for another safety, and then spent money on another safety. The issue is, for the most part the safeties kind of all suck except Harris. but thats just it, none of them outplayed manning. just cut the non-producers, keep the talent especially after you wait so long for him to develop Sure but like someone pointed out Manning had 1 good year out of 5, and you had Conte who is a rookie and developing, Steltz who ihad 2 years in the league and was developing too. If you are Angelo and you believe in the guys you drafted, it makes sense to let Manning go.
