It's so easy to win a World Series. All you need is 2 good hitters and a good pitcher. The rest will take care of itself. Go ahead and sign an aging slow slugger who was a bench player in last year's playoffs. I'm sure he will be good for a .950 OPS even though he hasn't hit that well in 3 years. Oh and stick him in the OF where he hasn't played in 4 years. And for the rest of the team, make sure to stock up on 26 year old "prospects" and just throw em out there and watch them explode into offensive weapons. You could probably make your 3B a 28 year old non-prospect who quit baseball during his college years and that should do. Bullpen? Don't worry about the bullpen, it will sort itself out. Just sign a bunch of retreads, has beens and nobodies. Even if they suck in the regular season, don't worry! They will suddenly become unhittable as soon as the playoffs start and be the backbone to your championship run. Don't worry about things like managers, strategy, fundamental baseball ,etc. Your team will overcome it no matter how amazingly incompetent they seem. Down to your last strike prior to being eliminated? Dude just hit a game tying 2 run triple. It's so easy, how do other teams not following this formula every season?
