maybe it wasn't during the ncaa tournament, but by draft time rose was definitely the consensus #1. No it wasn't. I remember on draft night, the front page of ESPN.com had a Bulls logo with a picture of Rose and Beasley in the background. I seem to remember it being 95% Rose 5% Beasley on draft night. ESPN might have put that up there but if anything they were trying to bring some drama. Immediately after winning the lottery it was maybe 55% Rose but as stories came out about the Rose and Beasley workouts with the Bulls, more and more people were convinced or tipped off that Rose was their man. I recall having absolutely no doubt who the Bulls were picking as it was being announced.

I think there are too many pitchers selected to the team. Just looking over the NL Roster, there will be 5 pitchers who I believe are available to play that won't, including 2 of them (Miley and Street) that are the only representatives of their team. The AL will have 3 pitchers not pitch with 2 of them (F. Hernandez and Chris Perez) being the only representatives of their team

The good news is that LaHair just barely is guaranteed an AB as he's 6 spots away in the batting order with 6 outs to go. If Casto doesn't bat 2nd next inning, he's not gonna hit in the game. Will be interesting to see if TRL keeps Furcal all game just to piss everyone off.

LaHair in at 1st....FURCAL STILL IN THE GAME. How often does an All-Star starter complete 7 innings? With Butler in the game, Furcal is the only person who started the game to still be in, and has been the only position player starter in the game for the last inning and a half.

My guess is LaHair comes in during the bottom of the 7th but I could also see him being one of the players LaRussa keeps in case of extra innings (in an 8-0 game) If Castro doesn't bat for Furcal in the 7th or 8th our chances of seeing a Cub take an AB are low.

Castro, LaHair and Bourn are the only 3 position players to not appear for the NL. Strange because 1B, SS and 2B are the 3 positions with only 1 backup on the team. Mauer and Andrus are the only AL position players to not appear. They are both at positions that have multiple backups. LaHair should have a chance to bat here as the 1B batting spot is due up, but he'd have to somehow replace Freese, a Cardinal who hasnt had an AB yet, so I wouldnt hold your breath.

LMAO Furcal stays in the game, still no Cubs. Furcal is the only position player starter still in the game. Rafael Furcal... surprisingly its the Cardinal staying in the game too long with the Cub player as his only backup.

Cubs, Phillies, Padres, Diamondbacks and Marlins are the only teams not represented in the game yet. Cubs have 2 players, while the Padres, Phillies and DBacks have 1 player and Marlins 0 Mariners, A's, Twins and Royals are the AL teams to be represented. I believe they all have 1 player too. So Cubs are only team with multiple All Stars to not make an appearance in the game through 6 innings. Yes I am taking this way too far, but its TLR involved.

Nevermind.... So if the NL goes 1-2-3 the rest of the game, Castro is still guarnateed an AB if he hits 9th. Not sure why the worst NL Starter should go 7 innings but its LaRussa Castro, LaHair and Michael Bourn are the only 3 position players to not appear for the NL yet. Agreed. I was excited to watch this all day, and I was already flipping on the PS3 in the bottom of the 1st. I do that for all All-Star games except the Pro Bowl, which I'm never excited for.

Also, not to bag on Vitters because I like him and want him to succeed, but it's the PCL!! Everyone always points this out when guys like Jason Dubois, Scott McLain, Micah Hoffpauir, and Bryan LaHair dominate, so it has to take a little luster off what he's doing.

Paxson did very little to make that team better in 2010. They still had the players in place before that season started and Rose covered up the huge hole of deficiencies on that team. *If this team was so great in 2011 the bulls with or without Rose should have gotten past the first round. OK I've obviously wasted my time as you know nothing about basketball. Guess how many 2009-2010 Bulls played on the 2010-2011 Bulls? 4! They went from 27th in offense and 13th in defensive rating to 11th and 1st. So you're telling me that Derrick Rose singlehandedly made them go from a mediocre team to the top 2-3 in the NBA just from an offseason of improvement? And that the addition of Thibs, Brewer, Bogans, Asik, Thomas and Watson had nothing to do with the Bulls improving into the best defense in the NBA? It was just Derrick Rose learning how to guard all 5 positions at once? Please read a book on basketball before continuing to post in this thread. Any book. And I'd say that Korver instead of Hakeem Warrick, Watson instead of Flip Murray and Boozer instead of Chris Richard had something to do with the Bulls offense improving. Again, Derrick's the biggest improvement offensively but not even Michael Jordan could turn the 2009-2010 Bulls into a 62 win team. Their best 3 point shooter was Flip Murray...Chris Richard was their backup PF, etc etc.
